Alright, I need a mechanical keyboard.
Criteria:
> Looks good (minimalist and no stupid gamer shit with funny dials everywhere)
> Cherry Blue Switches
> Easily Sourced (unlike the das keyboard in Australia)
> Preferably no backlight (but doesnt really matter)
> Quality construction, I'm a heavy programmer and typer.
I'm sure someone has a good idea of where to point me! :)

I make it a point to support local places over the big chains. It's not just to support the local joints either, they're genuinely better tasting and better priced most of the time.

Buckling spring unicomp.

Opinion on the Gigabyte Osmium?
Seems to be the only keyboard that meets my brother's requirements (red switches, volume wheel) that isn't the Corsair K60/K90 (disregarding them entirely due to partial non mechanical keys)
Also appears to be extremely well reviewed from what I've read, only flaw is it's slightly more expensive than some
Why does he need a volume WHEEL? Wouldn't some media keys with volume up/down suffice?
he
must like wheel
Why am I getting dumbs?
because it's not even a mechanical keyboard
Well shit, it appears I've misread the page I've bought it from. I will quickly dispose of myself

Opinions?
I'd say buy it! But if you don't mind how large the keyboard is, i would get the Classic 104, as i find it more sturdy.
Why does he need a volume WHEEL? Wouldn't some media keys with volume up/down suffice?
The majority of mechanical keyboards I've seen seem to have volume keys shared with the F keys (and lose the left win key in the process, a massive oversight imo) - he's specifically said he doesn't want to have to use a combo to change the volume.
And I guess coming from a G110, separate volume keys would be a downgrade from the fancy wheel
Personally I just use a macro where I hold down one of my lesser used mouse side buttons and spin the scrollwheel to change volume, seems silly to use the keyboard at all, but that's just me.

I've heard a lot of good things about it and I've recommended it before, but I can't comment from personal experience with one. Only thing that I personally don't like about it is the keycaps, I can't stand how the keys are labelled but I'd be able to get over it. It's just weird to have both of the characters right next to each other and I've no clue why they decided to go with that.
QF Rapid w/blues (no branding edition) came in today after my surgery.
My god this thing is sex to type on.
Is there a keyboard that looks like the HHP2..

But isn't TOPRE/really fucking expensive? I'd like Cherry Browns because my computer is in a living room. I just would like for it to be really simplistic and clean like that.
[editline]3rd January 2013[/editline]
Preferably with a number pad .
??? http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,fullsize&pid=fc500rtab to the guy above?
you can always get different keycaps
Bought a Cherry Blue Das.

Uhh, VorTex make one. It's either the RACE or PURE.
I type extremely fast (about 135 wpm tested on a mechanical keyboard, max 155 as I get used to it/start typing on it for a long period of time, really hindered on regular keyboards) but I also play a lot of games. Would browns be fine?

Yeah, browns would be fine. It all depends on whether you want the clickyness or not.
The thing is that I've never tried any type of mechanical keyboard where I knew what switch it had.
uh give reds a try
I have the blues, I would say that the browns should do very good for you as a starting switch, Just get something that does not necessarily have gamer kind of marketing and you should do good.
Roccats new MK: http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-Keyboards/ROCCAT-Ryos-MK-Pro/
Can anyone give there thoughts about it?
stupid gamer stuff that costs about twice as much because it 'looks cool'

That commercial.
"use your keyboard as a hit indicator"
Who the fuck plays games staring at the keyboard
the dumbest thing is that you can set it up so keys light up when you press them, why would that ever be useful? when you press a button your finger is blocking it
