Why is linear better for playing games?
And does it work like a joystick, where the harder you press the faster your character/car moves?
The clicky point of tactile isn't very nice when rapidly switching key with wasd movement etc
Also you need to consider the speed of the key rising up in some situations (eg osu), where blacks shine above the rest
And no they are not analogue
Though browns are better for some games, like MOBAs, though it really is preference.
My keyboard is in the mail again. Hopefully this time it will be American!
What do you guys think of the Qpad Mk-80 with cherry MX blues?
I wrote my thoughts in the MK-50 with blues a few pages back, and the MK-80 eliminates one of those concerns (that the MK-80 chassis is used for the 50), so I'd say it's a good buy.
Oh, and a month or two ago I got a QPAD mk-50 with blues.
Mini review:
Pros
-Blue switch is awesome
-Feels Very Solid
-UK Layout is pretty much spot on
Cons
-Says we heart gaming on the bottom, seems a bit annoying for a keyboard I mostly type on. Also the Q letter is their symbol rather than the font used on the rest of the keyboard.
-Uses the same chassis as the higher end model, so all of the ports are simply blocked out by plastic. This makes it look a bit cheaper than if they were using a dedicated chassis (but probably cost is the reason)
-Keyboard has a PS2 connector with a USB adapter, would prefer this the other way round as I can see the PS2-USB adapter getting lost easily, and they are no where near as common as the other way round.
It was the cheapest board I could find with blues, definitely do not regret and would probably buy again if I was in the same situation.
Sitting here with my K90, the news of the fully-mechanical Corsair Vengeance K95 makes me wish I would've waited. Still, looks like it's gonna be darn expensive though.
Well that is how it is for about any good mech keyboard. Though I think that Corsair is using their name to put some name badge cost to it, if the quality is there then it would not be so much a con.
What do you guys think of the Logitech mechanical keyboard? Is it worth it or gimmicky?

Anything similar you bunch can recommend?
Gimmicky
If it had blues and not the grey keys for WASD I would have got it.
I miss having media keys on my QPAD, and the volume wheel I would use a lot.
But the grey WASD ruins the appearance for me.
I wouldn't use the macro keys, but everything else looks nice.
do you actually need all that gimmicky shit or would you be okay with a standard board
[editline]14th January 2013[/editline]
that is what you have to ask yourself
I find macro keys useful, and media controls are welcome, it's less of a gimmick than other boards to be honest

This is where it comes down to preference. I still have problems finding uses for my two side buttons on my mouse.
I use my side buttons for web browsing, but they do fuck all in games. I've never used macro mapping software with my old G15 or my Blackwidow.
I have never used my keyboard macro keys, but I love the ones on my g700

browser navigation, mic button in games, mute skype key, I computer volume
I use mine for browsers and activating my mic personally
I personally find macro keys useful to have in certain situations. I've used them in AOE2 and some MMO-like games as actual macros, but sometimes you can "cheat" in other types of games by using macros for tricks requiring rapid key repetition. I suppose you could use software for this, but having it built into the keyboard memory allows you to circumvent software-based macro playback blocking (like in League of Legends).

Since when did league block macro playback?
Yay! My keyboard came in and it's actually the American layout this time!
Awesome. Happy typing away.

I'm actually typing this message as we speak.
Is that how words get onto the screen? That's fucking weird, man.

Back button for melee, forward button for grenade.

If possible I'd like media keys because I use them on my current keyboard and I'd use the macro keys for simple things like open notepad/calculator sort of deal. Would that keyboard be a good fit? Are there any other alternatives?
This is where it comes down to preference. I still have problems finding uses for my two side buttons on my mouse.
One of my favourite uses is holding a side button and using the mouse wheel to adjust volume. If there is a more effortless method of volume control I'd like to see it

Das keyboard has media keys now.
Notepad and paint etc can be opened easily by pressing windows key and typing calc etc.
Honestly you'll regret getting that logitech, the build quality is so low compared to others.
Been using a Coolermaster Quickfire for several months now with MX Brown switches.
Totally worth the money. I can't stand using nonmechanical keyboards any more.
I'm officially running out of stock of mechanical keyboards.
[editline]January 15th 2013[/editline]
After tonight I only have one Model M left in reserve, still have plenty of 122 keys though.
.. ok
Gotta say, I'm get used to stuff fast, and then it just blends in like everything else, but this keyboard still feels brand-new. As in, every time I type on it, it's a conscious experience, like my first time typing on it, and I love it.
Shit, pageking. Picture for your troubles.

Are wrist rests worth it? Might pick one up.

I find them very comfortable, and especially if you're gaming and have your fingers glued to WASD

Go all out and get a fancy black leather one to match your sexy keyboard
