Diiiiiiicks. First day of classes and I'll be out of the house all day.
Ohh the horror I had to type on a membrane keyboard for a little while and I think that I'll never be able to suppress the memory of a crappy typing experience. My mech keyboard has some problems, though now I have an appreciation that I do not have to type on a short travel membrane all the time.
I still have to type on a shitty HP keyboard at work, not allowed to bring your own peripherals, security reasons.... also are keyboards have RFID readers which are soon to be a requirement in our office.

Well that kinda sucks, though at least we do have something good that me can type on at home or on our free time, my post was meant to be a joke really.
It sucks because it really hinders my productivity.. sort of. I type at least 10% faster on my mech keyboard than my membrane with more accuracy.

Of course, but most of us pay insurance and bills which don't allow us to spend a lot of money.

A lot of people also have a lot of unnecessary bills.

Buy a UPS or two.

Except macro keys and backlight are (almost always) bullshit.
Macro keys tend to make a full-size keyboard even bigger/heavier at almost no gain.
Backlight might be useful for non-touch-typists, but I don't exactly associate those with the kind of people who buy mechanical keyboards.
I touch type but sometimes my hands get misplaced so I need to take a quick glance down at the keyboard to align my shit, this is really hard for me to do with a keyboard that isn't backlit as I enjoy sitting in a pitch black room.
Having a backlit keyboard is completely justified for anyone. Its all a matter of preferences.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am on a budget right now and can't spend more than $60.
Anyways, how does this look?

Goodbye eyesight
I don't think any LCD monitor exists with a brightness setting low enough to be suitable for totally dark surroundings, and if it does the contrast ratio would probably be absurdly low
apparently cherry mx GREENS are a thing now

They have been a thing.
What are people's general view on the Logitech G710+? And does it come in cherry mx blues?
I like its design and want a keyboard that has a wrist rest and full media keys

It depends on who you ask really. I just ordered one and for my use I think it will be perfect, though I'll agree that it is a little over-priced and probably missing a feature or two that should be standard on a high-end keyboard.
And no, right now it only comes with mx browns.

I wish there were more mechanical keyboards that came with nice wrist rests. My dad uses this crappy rubber dome keyboard in his office but the wrist wrest built into it is so nice. I hate having a separate one flopping around on the desk too.
Also, what is with everyone wanting media keys built into the keyboard? Does no one use global hotkeys? D:

They have been a thing since blues, normally as spacebar keys like grays.
think its worth switching from a blackwidow (blue) to a Filco Majestouch-2 (red)?

In my personal opinion it's worth it if you have the spare cash.
Guess what chucklefucks?

I'll probably type something up about it tomorrow because I have classes again in a few hours. Initial impressions: do not regret. Slightly miss arrow keys but whatever. Technically they're still on the board. The DIP switches on the back are a blessing and I might not have bought this thing if you couldn't change the Delete key to function as a Backspace. The most I need to get used to now is the locations of the CTRL button. Everything else is solid though. The keys feel amazing.
PS: Totally don't mean anything by "chucklefucks". It just rhymes.

I don't know but i think mainly cause right now i use the sidewinder x4 and all i really want is like a mechanical version of it and the G710+ seems like it but it has brown switches
Alright. This thing is sexy. It's SO SMALL and takes up no space. It's amazing how much more room I have now and how much I'm not missing all those other keys. It's pretty much fine for gaming too but it obviously is best for typing. The Topre switched have the feeling of rubber domes, they're super soft, but the tactile feel of a mechanical switch and just a little bit of click when it comes to bottoming out the key. They feel amazing because I don't mind the general feeling of rubber domes, I just hated jamming the keys down every time to use them. As far as comparing to Cherry MX switches, they're easier to press than my blues but that has not bugged me. I haven't has any issues with accidental presses or anything of the like. They're fairly quiet too. I doubt they would annoy anyone.
Shit was obviously expensive but if you want a small as hell keyboard with a great typing experience, this is it. I find it easy to adjust to and I don't think I'll miss the full size board soon.

My feet are bigger than this keyboard.
It's so cute. I think I'd go for a KBT Poker or other KBT though, HHKB costs too much.
