Massdrop is having a promo for a Max Keyboard Nighthawk Series. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/maxkeyboard-custom Kind of insane how good of a deal that is.
That is a pretty sweet deal, I'm not much for backlit keyboards but those do look pretty nice.
They look a lot better than that Blackwidow Ultimate I bought last week AFTER telling that guy that since he had ignored me and didnt ship the model M the day it said it would to cancel it and return my money. Instead I bought this, came home, and there was an email with a tracking number. So now I have 3 mechanical keyboards on my desk, and one Apple Wireless...

They didn't look super bright like I think a lot of backlighting does and you could clearly see all the lettering, even if it was a shitty phone cam picture. It's only been a week. Unless you got it from somewhere that isn't a retail store.

It's being put to use on my Mac as its my only mechanical that can do USB right now and my PC is out of commission until I order a new PSU.
I have an Ozone Strike fairly cheap mechanical gaming keyboard. Has Cherry MX Black switches, no backlight though. It is a great board but it is somewhat on the fugly side.
I use Model M's on my MacBook when I travel all the time, just have to buy a port replicator.
Geezus.
Geezus.
When I go somewhere and I need to setup shop, gotta have a nice keyboard. [editline]February 2nd 2013[/editline] That's only if I'm going to be where ever for a couple days, doing YouTube work and whatnot.
Could some please recommend me a keyboard (cherry mx blue) around a max of $140 I was thinking maybe a Ducky DK9087 Shine II or a CoolerMaster QuickFire TK Thank you
So are cherry mx blues good for gaming? I've heard people complaining about them and recommending the cherry mx red ones instead.
So are cherry mx blues good for gaming? I've heard people complaining about them and recommending the cherry mx red ones instead.
I see it coming down to personal preference.
So are cherry mx blues good for gaming? In very nitpicky theory. In practice personal preference is probably all that matters. I've also heard people suggest that having a tactile bump (I.E not Reds) makes rapid repeated keypresses easier because you can jiggle up and down around the actuation point, but in reality I believe you learn pretty much exactly how far down the actuation point of the red switches are even without the tactile bump.

I used a Das Keyboard Pro for a long time and had no trouble with Blues in any kind of game. They're great for typing too.
Anyone known the name of this switch?
I use Model M's on my MacBook when I travel all the time, just have to buy a port replicator.
Had one, haven't got a clue where it went...
They're fine for gaming. I used a Das Keyboard Pro for a long time and had no trouble with Blues in any kind of game. They're great for typing too.
Alright, going with a quickfire rapid blue then, thanks.
protip: if you want to get an idea of what o-rings will sound like on your keyboard just pop off some keycaps on your keyboard and "type" on the little bumps your keycaps attach to. this shows what noise comes from the switch and not from bottoming out.
I sank and got a Ducky Shinee 2 10 keyless and it feels so much better than my old membrane sidewinder x4 but that keyboard will be missed. My only complaint that is seems to be slightly unbalanced (probably only my one) and it rocks a bit everytime i type, also the enter key seems quite stiff and doesn't always bounce back completely up.

If it doesn't stop sticking then you could try and clean out the switch. Also are you using the feet or not, since if one of the feet is too short/long you could stick something under it to keep it up.
which are things he shouldn't have to deal with after paying $150
My brother sent back his QuickFire Pro with red switches so that he could get a Trigger with blacks for full backlighting. I tried it out and holy shit blacks aren't nearly as different from reds as I expected, the actuation force difference wasn't even noticeable to me tbh.
which are things he shouldn't have to deal with after paying $150
Well, I understand the feet bit, but his desk could just be warped or something. And the enter being stiff is normal, though it not bouncing up full sounds like a bad spring.
god fucking dammit. just played chivalry duels against archery cunts. now my keyboard is broken and I need a new one
Fixed my model M Tightened the hackjob screw used to apply pressure to the circuit board, works like a charm the model M lives on.
I'm considering getting one of those Corsair Mechanicals, because I'm a sucker for brushed Aluminum. I've got a wireless keyboard and mouse right now, I originally switched to it because my old desk didn't really have anywhere to route the wires so they would get tangled around my feet (also Microsoft ergonomic shit keyboard and shit cheap Dell mouse). Logitech S510 keyboard and mouse currently [editline]4th February 2013[/editline] I'll probably keep the wireless around if I want to use my computer somewhere other than my desk, like when I get my new TV.
Okay, so I've been told that cherry mx blues aren't exactly suitable for my needs, here's what I do: I play lots of fps games, and I'm a bit harsh on pressing keys. A friend of mine told me the red ones would be the way to go, is that true?

People recommend Reds for gaming because they're lighter keys, easier to press, having a tactile bump for gaming is kind of useless, you'll probably be bottoming out the key away. If you try and double tap on a tactile switch (like Blues) you have to lift the key until the switch is reset for the second tap to register. Like I said earlier, I never had that problem with Blues, but that's why Reds are good for gaming.
Double tapping is easier on browns than reds/blacks imo.
Browns have the same actuation point as Reds but they're tactile. Blacks are heavier.
