It's not simply about frames. it's about perspectives. Left eye and right eye perspectives. With a 60hz screen the shortest amount of time each eye can see if 16.666ms. Each eye is receiving 1/60th of video and then 1/60th of darkness.
So wait. If you enable V-Sync on a 2 MS screen (which mine is), you basically throw those 2ms away and the delay is increased to 16 MS? I mean... No wait. That's to do with signal reception between GPU and Screen, right? Which cable quality could influence too?
IIRC if you find an image somewhere which has the two perspectives side by side, you can rename the file .jpn? and it will open with nvidia 3d vision picture viewer thing.
I'm thinking that it'd be more complicated than that. I'm guessing that Nvidia 3D formatted images contain info to tell where the divide is. However, if it just goes for dividing down the middle, then sure.

Should be good. I don't know much about it, but tests results seem to indicate that it's less dark and doesn't ghost as badly (wat? Isn't that more dependent on the glasses?), If not for anything else, then at least for convenience. You don't have to bother with a separate 3d-vision package.

A "2ms" screen is how fast a pixel changes color, not how fast it receives frames or how fast the electronics are. A 60hz screen unless set lower will always be showing 60 complete refreshes per second. Setting vsync just means that the frames sent to the screen are timed to be displayed as the screen refreshes to avoid frames being render between refreshes.
TLDR the ms rating is something completely different.
Is there much point in getting 3D set up when VR headsets are just around the corner?

Also, are there any large size 3D monitors with 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 resolution or just 27" IPS panels instead of shitty TN panels?
Read my post a few up.
I've got it and it's a great monitor, not as crisp as my VG236 but the colours are a hell of a lot better. Nvidia 3D vision 2 with lightboost is great too.

Yes, because they really aren't Just around the corner. Carmack spent two hours addressing this yesterday. It's getting there, but has far-a-ways to go yet.
Try switching the left and right eye. There should be an option for it somewhere. I'm told that if they get mixed up it's very taxing on your eyes.
It makes it much more comfortable to view, but removes 95% of the effect

What if you ramp up the intensity? Does it get uncomfortable again?
Does 3D porn exist?
Brt has like a Terabyte of it iirc.

Yeah but that's the equivalent of 512GB of regular porn.
Yeah but that's the equivalent of 512GB of regular porn.
But the visual equivalent of 2048 GB porn. Especially if it's Interlaced.

The screen is interlaced, not the content.
Could you do this with three monitors? 3d triple screen would be amazing.
That's what Nvidia does. Run triple 120hz and have 3D vision surround.
Best to have a GTX 690 or 680s in SLi though :v:

You'd probably need some ungodly beast of an enchanted demon PC to run that at a decent framerate.

Might do it for one of my friend's next build. We are currently looking at 4 7970s.

Nvidia surround sorta needs, Nvidia cards.

Didn't read Brt's post. Now I feel like an idiot.

Whatever, there's the same thing for AMD gfx cards, just called differently... ~HD3D Eyefinity~
Is it possible to attach a PS3 or 3D bluray player to these 3D monitors, or are they strictly for PC use?
I've been wanting to get a 3D monitor for a while, since I really enjoy watching 3D movies.

These 3D monitors run on 120hz for the 3D, by itself the monitor is not 3D just high refresh rate. the 3D bluray players, as far as I know, simply interface with the display for the displays on 3D system.
So if the monitor has built in 3D like 120hz, but interfaces directly with the glasses then yes. I think Samsung's works like that.
But otherwise, the nvidia 3D vision interfaces with the drivers not the monitor. So you'd need to make sure the PS3 or the 3D bluray player are able to push 1080p@120hz.
So if I wanted to do this with AMD cards and three monitors, what would you guys suggest? Monitor and card wise.

You would probably go with 2x HD7970 or 2x HD6990 (quad crossfire with insane heat, unless you've got an open case, not really recommendable)
As for the monitors, I heard the Samsung S27A950 and S27A750 are fine with AMD cards and also look nice. Although both are glossy screens.

Nvidia 3D vision 2 monitors (with inbuilt IR emitter) supports PS3 and other 3D inputs as it doesn't rely on any USB connections, just the video input signal.
Anyone know someplace that will ship a Benq XL2420TX to Australia?
Edit: Well this seems impossible without $150 or more in shipping.
