So, apparently she did not even know this whole thing was going on, it was one of her kids that downloaded that stupid paper airplane app.
Apple called her to tell her that she had won the $10,000 prize, and she hung up on them saying, "Thank you very much; I'm not interested".

I should have explained more.
Her kids knew, and were upset by mum hanging up on them.
They tried to call Apple and failed.
Apple called back a second time, and all is good with them and their $10,000.
