I've always preferred calling up programs with launchers and my taskbar, launchy is pretty good for that. Lets you start things even quicker than having it on the desktop and keeps things clean and pretty.

I just start my shit with terminal/keyboard shortcuts. Super+G for chrome, Super+C for calc, Super+T for text editor, etc. I don't think I've seen my desktop in months.

also serious reply: the reason I use Trillian is because it's the only non-Messenger alternative to Facebook Messenger. I thought they shuttered XMPP services years ago so I have no idea how they connect, but I vastly prefer it to even the desktop Messenger client. and the Vista-era theme is just for fun, I had a Windows Longhorn theme on my PC and it looked really neat in conjunction with it

Trillian just basically routes all the facebook messages through their servers. They're a go-between.

Finally got around to upgrading to Windows 10 after a clean wipe. I hadn't updated my OS since 2007 and it was really starting to show its age (lots of random slowdowns and hiccups/ bugs after years of neglecting cleaning duties).
