surprised to see so many Windows desktops, considering that making it look good takes a whole lot more effort

Xfce Whisker menu
note that only Xfce has a menu option like that, other DE-s (KDE, GNOME) either don't have anything like that or it looks way different
IDK I think Win10 is minimalist enough that it really just depends what wallpaper you pick
Wallpaper and colour scheme is the primary factor for this shit

that's kinda the point though
they all look the same with minor differences
except the fancy rainmeter desktops, those are cool

dual booting between macOS and W10 now, I wish blackbox still worked on Windows because I genuinely dislike Explorer and the start menu in general. here's back when I used to be a windows boy

Not pictured: headphone/speaker switch right of the volume wheel. I have it set to fade in on mouse-over (same with the Honeycomb icons, though only with 30% transparency).

Been almost two years and still the same desktop. I really need a new one.
I feel disgusted by my desktop

not because of the wallpapers I have, but because everything that was on my desktop is now in a folder on another drive because things started to get outside the limits of my desktop which I had no way to reach unless I'd open the desktop via the explorer
don't do the same thing I do, you'll never be able to find anything there and it'll just get worse
