I am really only using Ubuntu Minimal, which is just a stripped down version of ubuntu with almost no packages at all. I chose Ubuntu Minimal as my distro of choice because it has bleeding-edge packages, I can build up the system how I want with whatever I want and not have the Amazon spyware, and so I can maintain Debian and Ubuntu compatibility.
Edit:
I also don't feel like I should have to spend most of my time building up the system from scratch, as with Arch and Gentoo, and again, I like to have bleeding edge packages and compatibility with both Debian and Ubuntu.

Ditched Mint Linux, switched to Fedora.
I'm running it on all of my computers now, its great!

Fedora rawhide is as bleeding edge as it gets without using arch/gentoo

Way ahead of ya.
Got a few essential extensions like dash to dock, drop down terminal and hide accessibility.

Again, like I said, I also like to maintain Debian and Ubuntu compatibility.

I thought they remove the accessibility button in fedora 19
So I'm back on 7, 8 was giving me a lot of problems. I'll probably go to 8.1 when it's out but I'm going to enjoy how great 7 looks for now.

Just thought I'd point out to you guys, Wallbase is back up, and it's looking pretty awesome!

I'm not trying to push Gentoo on you, since you said you really don't want to start from scratch (which Gentoo kind of does make you do, I'll admit this), but this bit here made it sound like you don't think Gentoo does bleeding edge. I'd just like to point out that on the "testing" branch (your architecture prefixed with ~), I've never seen an ebuild for a new version be delayed by more than maybe two or three days.
The other two points are good reasons to not use it; Ubuntu does give a nice starting point for people who don't like to build from the ground up, and installing from .deb, while possible, is a bit bitchy under Gentoo.

But why use Gentoo and purposely overcomplicate things when I can use Ubuntu Minimal and build from a bare-bones base with all the packages I want?
My current installation is basically built from the ground up. The only thing that basically defines it as Ubuntu is the fact that I'm using the Ubuntu repositories. There is absolutely no trace of any default Ubuntu packages, and everything installed now is what I did on my own.
You guys should really check this out. Ubuntu Minimal Webpage.
The installer included on the CD allows you to choose a completely bare-bones installation, and will allow you to install the packages you need at a later time, instead of installing one of the preset options, like Ubuntu Unity and things of the like.
I'd probably use Ubuntu Minimal if I didn't hate Apt and if /g/ wouldn't tear me a new arsehole for using it.

There's your first mistake.

I don't think the hate for Ubuntu is justified. Sure it's bloated as hell, compared to archlinux, gentoo or debian, but it provides a complete out of the box experience which I really like for Live CD's.
Ubuntu minimal is fucking great tough. I've used it on several installations.

How are they? They're bringing Linux to the mainstream which is what it needs at the minute. If it weren't for Ubuntu changing people's stereotypes of Linux being 'geeky', 'nerdy' and 'confusing' and bringing in more users to the platform and therefore encouraging more developers to develop for the platform meaning a win win for everyone. The speed, freedom and security of Linux and the applications and games of Windows and Mac. If it weren't for Ubuntu and Canonical you wouldn't have Steam for Linux for example and the porting of the Unity 3D engine as another example.
If only Gentoo and Arch were available then your average Joe isn't going to give it a second thought, never mind they'd probably never hear of it at all anyway.

They are trying their hardest to fragment Linux. And the Amazon Spyware is absolutely revolting.
Their shitty DE is negatively impacting ported software, its so backwards Steam doesn't function normally on a conventional WM.

The 'Amazon Spyware' can easily be disabled. Many people find it useful anyway and it's an easy source of revenue for the company. They've got to make money somehow.
How do you mean 'fragment linux' though?

Bullshit like Mir, something so elementary should not have multiple implementations.
Weyland is coming along fine, we are just waiting for DE's to add support for it. Canonical embracing Weyland would have greatly sped up adoption.
Torvalds himself complains constantly about silly cross-distro compatibility issues that should just not exist, fragmenting the whole platform will not help this.

Hell, I'm not even convinced we need to move away from X.Org yet. What's Weyland's advantage? Why should I bother to switch when my choice of DE/WM starts supporting it?
facepunch can't even rice i am ashamed

GPU Accelerate ALL THE THINGS!
And as far as I understand it, Xorg is a crufty piece of shit, its really not nice to develop for.

I'm guessing Rainmeter, UXstyle with a custom Windows theme, Foobar2000 with a custom theme (Although I'm not too sure) and a basic hack tool or using a blank taskbar item to make the task icons at the bottom central (And custom icon pack as well). Oh, and door2windows start orb changer with a custom start menu button.
Am I right?
