Oh, they're all based off of key bindings. Here's a rather dull explanation of the one I'm using, but it should make a bit of sense.

I'm not sure that he explains the actual keybindings, but for my WM. The defaults are based off of the alt key.
alt+shift+c closes a window
alt+p opens a dialogue up top that allows me to type in a program name and open it
alt+[1-9] switches my workspace (you can see up top - web, music, study...etc) Which all contain different applications in them.
switching programs can be done via alt+j/k, but just moving your mouse above a window will change it as well.
Of course, you can change all of the keybindings, but that should to some extent explain how it works.

The tile theme is a work in progress.
The desktop tile shows exactly what my desktop looks like (no icons, no rainmeter, no bar), but I have about 16 different suicide girl wallpapers on a loop, 10 seconds a piece.

Installed ubuntu after my windows install got fucked up due to hardware issues as a stopgap for about a week while I get together parts to rearrange and build a new PC - in hindsight I could've picked a better OS but whatever, it's only for a week. Ubuntu's not actually too bad, it's got some weird UI decisions but you get used to them. Should really have installed elementary OS though, I've been wanting to try that for quite a while.

Its Winamp with the ClassicPro Hallion theme. Make sure you download and install ClassicPro first, then the Halion theme afterward. To get the transparency, right click on the window, go to window options and find Opacity or something like that.

This is my ubuntu setup. I'm on 12.10, cinnamon environment, theme is called Minty Colors. It examines the wallpaper colors and makes the UI hover/highlight/etc colors coordinate with the wallpaper.

I made my talk, drive, 7 zip, and printer utility tiles. It can be pretty hard, depending on the style you use.
Made some custom icons for the taskbar, got some others from the internet, and now I'm really satisfied with my desktop.
