I don't know the exact details, but the new GNOME shells don't really make the terminal transparent and likewise got rid of the option. Threedog's probably running an older version of gnome-terminal which still has the option. Ubuntu w/ Unity never had problems with terminal transparency.

Change the Recycle Bin icon to something that fits your visuals? Not much to suggest if there's really only one thing that can be changed haha

I keep wanting to change my background, but I don't think there's anything I like enough to warrant a background of it.
