Yosemite is fucking beautiful.
Can't wait till the gold master comes out. Hackintoshes don't work very well with developer previews.

I wish I could make my desktop as beautiful as that.
Why are you defining quality when using png, also why not just use screenfetch -s?
Anyway, content:

Nothing special, my glorious 2560x1440 korean monitor broke though, so stuck with this sucky 1920x1080 one :suicide:

Not sure what to do with the second monitor, maybe put a clock or something on it.
Ok seriously what do you think look shit about this DerpishCat?

I like it, I think a clock would look nice.
Ok seriously what do you think look shit about this DerpishCat?
It's just so empty, and the dock or whatever that is looks awful, also the wallpapers looks low resolution, and don't fit together. Also I dislike the hidden taskbar, it makes you less progressive.
Only nice thing about it really is that you have matching monitor resolutions, I guess.

The flat design of that icon bar fits good to the rather minimalistic style and colors of the icons. I'd try to find a wallpaper for two monitors in that absract grey-ish style. And yea, some minimalistic rainmeter clock shit could work great with this.
Could anyone make a suggestion on how to go about getting a simple Linux OS for my laptop? I don't really like windows that much and it's being used for school. Just looking for something nice and clean looking just not default Ubuntu

Xubuntu. Ubuntu, but with XFCE instead of Unity for its desktop environment if that's what you meant.
And GNOME-Look for themes if what it comes with isn't artsy enough for you. Install them in ~/.themes (a dot-folder) to make them work most of the time.

Just wondering, is xubuntu the same as gnome, or is gnome a different build? I haven't tried any other ones but Ubuntu

GNOME is a different build than XFCE. If you're asking because the site is GNOME-Look, it's because it's got a resource on GTK themes, a toolkit for building graphical interfaces (the other is Qt found on KDE and LXDE-Qt).

from reading your second post after this, Elementary OS is based off of Ubuntu using gnome as its DE if you want that instead. there's also Fedora, but from my knowledge it's the "step up" after Ubuntu so might be a little complicated
just gonna throw a little list at you with different DE's, all based off of Ubuntu
Elementary OS (Gnome), Xubuntu (XFCE), Lubuntu (LXDE), Kubuntu (KDE) and Mint (Cinnamon). all of these should be the same, just different desktop environments. I personally prefer Gnome or XFCE

I was looking at mint, it looks really nice and simple. In terms of difficulty, how hard is it to set up Mint to where I don't have to start from square one again?
[editline]19th August 2014[/editline]
example being if I somehow manage to fuck this up I don't have to fresh install it again whilst trying to install it.

it should be as simple as installing really, especially with mint. it comes pre installed with most stuff you need I believe, and the software center is very easy to use for when you need new stuff

Alright, thanks for the information. I've always known people that are good linux users as wizards and I haven't really dove into it yet. I'll try it out and get back to you

ElementaryOS uses Gnome as much as Mint uses Gnome. ElementaryOS uses Pantheon, which is a fork of GNOME, just as Mint uses Cinnamon, which is also a fork of GNOME.
What that means is that there's no guarantee that themes and so on will actually WORK, and from what I can remember, ElementaryOS started using a different toolkit than GTK that should remain somewhat compatible with GTK, called Granite.

yeah, I completely forgot since Pantheon is so similar to Gnome (visually) anyway. regarding themes though, won't they work 99% of the time? I used to use Cinnamon a lot before and themes for Gnome pretty much always worked on my end. I haven't used Pantheon that much so I can't speak for that, but Mint worked pretty flawlessly on my end with themes intended for Gnome

I must admit that I never changed the Pantheon theme at all (can you even do that?), so I don't know, but from my experience with Cinnamon I doubt that it'll work even 99% of the time.
I've had some of the "official" themes from Linux Mint not work AT ALL on my Linux Mint install in Cinnamon. Not sure why, but they broke eachother completely.
