That is too minimalist for my tastes. I mean you gotta at least press a couple keys if you have shortcuts or type the name of the app you want to run.
Minimalist to the point of making things needlessly complicated.
With my setup I am only a single click away from the application I need.

Typing tends to be quicker than clicking. You could even press your super/meta/Windows key and type what you want on your end, not very different from me using [url=http://tools.suckless.org/dmenu/]dmenu[/url]. It's hardly needlessly complicated.
Is it possible to display your taskbar in greyscale independent of what icons I have in there?

Apart from the "Someday" on the second wallpaper I am quite happy with these two wallpapers.

yes of course, it's actually default to have the start button in the lower left hand corner. it's just a personal touch to have the taskbar up top :)
