I actually used a shell replacement called Emerge Desktop back in my XP days
Old desktop time? 14 year old me was fucking obsessed with Vista, constantly got blue screens on the real deal so I skinned XP until SP1. This is a few months before Bioshock came out.

After realizing I never ever use my desktop shortcuts, I hid them all, and just set stuff in my taskbar. looks nice I think.
