Any chance you could post that wallpaper?
Nope, I haven't seen it before. I'll look though. [editline]21st April 2013[/editline] Here's something that looks a bit like it. http://wallbase.cc/wallpaper/2020049
I'm not the most creative around here, just a few desktop icons, a screenshot I had made in Metro 2033 which I liked and a few gadgets, any ideas to spruce it up a little?
just let people use whatever os they like
He asked for tips on how to make it look better.
I tried to convert myself to 24 hour time, but I kept finding myself just converting it to 12-hour time to fully comprehend, so there's no point, anyway.
I was like that for the first month or two maybe Nowadays I have to convert 12 hour to 24 hour in order to fully be aware of what time it is.
I was like that for the first month or two maybe Nowadays I have to convert 12 hour to 24 hour in order to fully be aware of what time it is.
Even so, why would you need to.
Even so, why would you need to.
You don't "need" to do it, but it's beneficial in the long run. More efficient way of telling time. Gets rid of the extraneous AM/PM and any sort of ambiguity in what hour it is. Takes up less space (not as big of a deal on a taskbar clock, but still a nice bonus).

It makes no sense to me whoever invented a 12 hour clock, if a 24 hour clock already existed. Yeah, it makes more sense. But since it's already established, there's no reason to convert. Hell, only one scenario where the 12 hour clock had a negative effect. I woke up from a nap, saw the time was 7:00. During this time of year, the sunlight is about the same at 7:00 AM and PM, so I freaked out, thinking it was 7:00 AM, and I missed my bus. Other than that? No downside. Pointless, but you're not missing out if you go 12 hour clock
how is it difficult to switch to or comprehend but 24 hour time is already the standard for a lot of countries
Because they're so used to a 12 hour clock. Changing how you read do something different from how you did your entire life is difficult. And so? It's not in the U.S. If you're moving to Europe? Yeah, add it to the list of things you'd have to adapt to. But if you just live in the U.S.? No point to use a 24 hour clock.

But...its not that damn hard. Just add/subtract 12 Jesus christ
But...its not that damn hard. Just add/subtract 12 Jesus christ
That adds an extra unnecessary step.
Back on 8, 7 felt too slow. [t]http://u.cubeupload.com/FatWhiteLump/42313.jpg[/t]
But...its not that damn hard. Just add/subtract 12 Jesus christ
That's exactly what I do. But since most people can't even make change in their head it's no surprise they can't work out military time.
I want to try out windows 8, not sure..
Do it, it's neat.
I like this one better
That's exactly what I do. But since most people can't even make change in their head it's no surprise they can't work out military time.
U.S civilian who usually uses 24 hour clock settings here. (When it works on my desktop, which isn't today) It's easy. People who don't get it just haven't thought about it at all. Pageking content: Desktop with overlay off and taskbar up: [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/73EnIn.png[/t] Desktop with taskbar hidden and overlay up: (default) [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/lM0IRU.png[/t]
That's exactly what I do. But since most people can't even make change in their head it's no surprise they can't work out military time.
It is not that I can't, the advantages just don't justify the effort required to convert.

It's not really all that particularly glamourous, but; [t]http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w72/mastoner20/wall1_zps1ae5c5a2.jpg[/t]
I swear that was my Sophomore year Math teacher.
If you're referring to my background, I doubt it. Unless you're Czech. They probably share one of those weird faces that all look alike. A good friend of mine looks almost identical to her, except with jet-black hair.
Because they're so used to a 12 hour clock. Changing how you read do something different from how you did your entire life is difficult. And so? No point to use a 24 hour clock.
but i live in the uk where we're in some weird transition period between units that make no sense and logically designed units - i couldn't give less of a shit about the standard in the us use am/pm with analogue clocks, use 24hr with digital clocks, that's the way that makes most sense [editline]25th April 2013[/editline]
How to be a dick in America: Give military time to civilians.
why? can't the average american subtract 12 from a number? i don't even need to perform the operation because I'm used to both systems, i know what time people mean without any actual thinking involved regardless of whether they say 6:00 PM or 18:00, it's not that hard [editline]25th April 2013[/editline]
It is not that I can't, the advantages just don't justify the effort required to convert.
there's hardly any advantages except consistency and there being no ambiguities about the time, which would probably only come up occasionally i guess but there's literally no effort required to convert, like at all. it's moving from a format that somewhat makes sense to a format that makes total sense that's not too different from the format you already know. know what's hard? knowing metric and trying to learn imperial or old money because those systems make no fucking sense
Same as usual, new backgrounds [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16108270/%C3%B6%C3%B6%C3%B6%C3%B6%C3%B6ll.png[/t]
