I'm so sorry that me experimenting with an old operating system to see how much I can get out of it is dumb. It's just scientific curiousity!

Any love for subtle?

Using Subtle WM customized with Solarized theme colors.
Works beautifully for me.
How are you finding it?
Is the config compiled into it, or does it read conf files like a same WM?
I like simplicity; I found myself running things from the terminal anyways so I decided that a start or applications menu wasn't needed. It got a lot of getting used to right off the bat, but I got basically everything how I like it. One thing I'd like is the ability to move windows to and from different views on multiple monitors. For example, if I have Chrome open in one monitor, I'd like to be able to open it again and move it to the second monitor, so I can have netflix running on the side while I'm doing something else. Unfortunately, this just isn't possible.
It read Ruby scripts that you can edit realtime. Just open it up in a text editor make your changes, then press a certain keystroke to reload subtle (windows key + r I think?) and it will re-read subtle.rb. I've added custom views, gravities, startup scripts, and of course, colors.
Stuff like wallpapers and multiple monitors are best handled with a startup script of some kind. By default, my laptop runs a script which tells xrandr to put the second monitor on to its native resolution, and then run a script to use feh to set the background for both monitors. It waits a couple seconds before running the feh script so as to give the second monitor some time to turn on. If I'm not using a second monitor, then I just have an invisible second screen to my right but the WM works pretty much the same.
Is the config compiled into it, or does it read conf files like a sane WM?
Oh come on, it's not like "make; make install; lennartctl restart wm.service" makes any significant difference.

Gosh it's weird setting up a wallpaper with a screen in portrait.
Thinking about getting rainmeter, so I can get rid of the 2 files left on my desktop.
