On the WZR, yes. Two external antennas and one internal.
that's nifty, how's your range and QoS?
Mine is a Belkin N150 wireless router
that's nifty, how's your range and QoS?
I've seen around 300-400ft range but it really depends on the environment and speeds will drop alot. They've released a higher range router since. I was without QoS for a while since DD-WRT's QoS is almost totally broken since the 15xxx builds, and they don't seem to care about it either. I had to get the RB750GL for proper QoS that worked, but complicated to setup. Currently have Source games and a VoIP phone prioritised and works perfectly despite high connection usage.
Netgear WNR2000v3, just got it recently, and it's a great feature-packed router. No DD-WRT for it, which is kind of disappointing, but the stock firmware has pretty much everything I need.
Any Canadian's use Telus? If you do, do you know the default password on their routers? I don't know one thing about these things and I need to port forward.
Running DD-WRT v24-sp2 mega on my Linksys WRT54G. I love the nocatsplash feature very much.
I'm about to hack my WRVS4400N linksys router now. I'm trying to get the vanilla firmware to compile before I start fucking around though.
I got WRT54GL with dd-wrt, but I'm not familiar with those settings. Any tips/tricks to boost internet performance or something?

Hey guys I'm back. I received my WRT54GL today and so far so good. Running great, DD-WRT is awesome, way better then stock firmware and no disconnects yet. It said the auction was "used" but when I received it I gave it a good sniff and it had that new hardware smell. If you're from the US and you need a new router. Would you reccimend it?
For what it's worth, I have two computers using entry-level Belkin USB WiFi adapters that work like a dream.
A lot of their stuff is hit and miss, all iPod cases they've made have sucked, I have a UPS from them that has battery backup only when it's unplugged and not when the power goes out, but yeah, their smaller stuff like wi-fi adapters work because they're kinda hard to fuck up.
I am currently using a Sitecom WL-351, however it doesn't quite cut it with the wireless to reach my floor, can anyone recommend a way to improve it? I am currently considering getting a simple router and using it as an access point.
I'm currently digging a Linksys WAG120N modemrouter: It does the job a billion times better than some old Belkin Wireless-G modemrouter I had in that kept dropping ADSL. Interface is nice and powerful, too, like most Linksys / Cisco stuff. I've also got a WRT54GL running DDWRT in my room with boosted power output acting as a access point / switch. (oh, and before you say "why are you using an accesspoint, use a modem -> router" talktalk won't let anything that isn't a modemrouter connect for some fucking retarded reason, and there's literally no way I could find to get around it)
I'm stuck with this vile abomination: Thomson TG784 In addition to adding about 30-60ms ping to to every online game I play and having a hideously slow, cluttered, frustrating and terribly designed web interface, it's also locked down by my ISP so things like turning off the automated intrusion detection I can't do, I can't bridge it and some other stuff I forget is taken out as well. The best part though is that if I wanna upgrade from 24mbps to 60mbps (VDSL) I'll be stuck with a thomson TG789 (I think) unless I fork out the necessary $150 (+ some for a decent router) for a zyxel modem that works properly with VDSL.
If you think the TG784 is bad you should see the ADSL version, the TG585. It's a fucking clusterfuck of dropped connections, operator lockouts, and overheating.
Got this one from my ISP as a replacement for the one below, didn't work so I'm not using it :v: Got this one from my ISP aswell.
I have this: http://gyazo.com/e8691fadfeba6732ac2bd5012eff8195 in case sad face. It's an enterprise class router that we got for free and it's a piece of shit. Port forwarding? Impossible. The software is coded in Java and won't work properly since it was made in like J2SE 1.4 and I'm not installing an old version of Java just to forward ports (which doesn't even work when I do it right according to Cisco.) Just want to get a WRT54, dd-wrt it and call it quits.
In EXEC mode: #ip nat inside source static <tcp/udp> <internal IP> <internal port> <external ip> <external port> You can probably replace external IP by an interface name followed by DHCP; it's been a while since I've had to do port forwarding on something that wasn't a static address.
I've tried that, but it NEVER works and I end up having to change my IP address.
I've been working with Cisco routers full time for a few years and I assure you that this will perform what I've said it does, without somehow removing your IP address (which would be in interface mode, not with ip nat). The entire setup for NAT goes something like this: int fa0/0 ip nat outside ip add dhcp int fa0/1 ip nat inside ip add 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0 exit access-list 100 permit ip 192.168.0.0 0.0.0.255 any ip nat inside source list 100 fa0/0 overload At that point you have NAT/PAT setup, if you want to add port redirections you do what I've mentioned above. None of the commands should result in the magical disappearance of your IP address. Be careful with ip nat, there are various combinations of static/source/destination/inside/outside that can be easy to mix up
so say my internal IP is 192.168.100.12 and my external is 12.34.56.78 and I wanted to open port 27015, what would that look like?
so say my internal IP is 192.168.100.12 and my external is 12.34.56.78 and I wanted to open port 27015, what would that look like?
I believe it is: #ip nat inside source static 192.168.100.12 27015 12.34.56.78 27015 Note that this doesn't "open" any port, it simply performs NAT. You'll need to modify your outside interface's "in" access-group's ACL if you have one set to make sure that traffic is allowed on UDP 27015.
