[img_thumb]http://img689.imageshack.us/i/geeteeayfore.png/[/img_thumb] Pretty sure I can run GTA 4 on this on medium settings, especially considering the GPU is fully overclocked. [editline]13th January 2011[/editline] yeah just check can you run it, i passed the recommended settings [editline]13th January 2011[/editline] apparently the recommended overclock for my cpu is 5.23ghz :v:
It's the CPU that's the problem, my 220 doesn't really have problems with the game, but i have a bad cpu
I am so tempted to see if it will run on my average mid-range PC. But it might asplode!
I have mine around medium-high setting and I get around 20-30 fps on my quad core. Every now and then it drops, however. It's irritating how unoptimised it is.
I have a Geforce GT 240 512mb and a Pentium Dual-Core :v: and run GTAIV on high-medium on 1920x1080 but on medium texture setting. I have a AMD Phenom II X4 965 and a new motherboard and found out I need to reinstall window for a new motherboard and my Dad will get mad if I reinstall it and take out everything. Fuck my life. All well, at least I get to build my own PC.
More optimising, less http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/.
It's just going to result in more incorrectly placed threads, and hence more bans.
It's a conspiracy. This is genocide.
Huh what. I have an AMD Athlon x2 250 at stock speeds (3Ghz), with some unknown brand of DDR3 1x2GB, my Old 8800GT, and I run at 1600x900, medium textures, medium reflections, medium water detail, 35 View Distance, about 40-50 Detail distance and 30 vehicle density, and the game runs fine most of the time. What am I doing right?
FYI AMD Athlon X2 is the first generation dc > worthless for GTAIV AMD Athlon II X2 is the latest gen >a whole lot better!
Run everything on low... The game runs fine with a few hiccups now and then for me, I run everything high. I have a 5770 and a Propus 645 X4
If you're playing on a high resolution I.E. the resolution your monitor's supposed to be set to, set it lower.
More optimising, less http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/.
BULLSHIT, I GET LESS THAN 30 FPS ON LOW
that can't be right, you have an i7 and you get 30 fps on low? What's your GPU
that can't be right, you have an i7 and you get 30 fps on low? What's your GPU
I'm guessing a 5770, going by what it says. I get anywhere from 20-60 fps on an Athlon II X4 and a Radeon 6850 on Medium-High settings. I have the car density maxed out though. Still doesn't make any sense why an i7 is having such a hard time.
[img_thumb]http://i51.tinypic.com/2utm4nr.jpg[/img_thumb] BULLSHIT, I GET LESS THAN 30 FPS ON LOW
BULLSHIT, I GET MORE THAN 30 FPS ON MED-LOW! and thats with my core 2 quad and 9800gt.
that can't be right, you have an i7 and you get 30 fps on low? What's your GPU
Yeah, this is a overpriced but still decent prebuilt my grandmother spent too much money on for me. I should probably look for a better GPU to replace 5770.
The 5770 should be more than sufficient, my mate can play it at 1920x1200 mostly maxed with his 5770 and low end AMD quad. Hell, the 4650 he had before hand could play it on medium. There's probably something else wrong with your PC.
my friend thinks that you have to get old hardware to play old games better he reasons that, because I have a 2008 HD4870 and GTA 4 came out in 2008, I will get a performance boost because it is "more compatible"
I changed the resolution to it's lowest then I changed the ratio to 16:9. I can now run it on medium.
For me, GTA IV has this strange habit of running worse if I lower the graphics. It's like a lazy kid who doesn't do anything when he barely has a workload. But once you start stacking piles of work onto him and he leaves it all to the last minute he works like a crazy motherfucker.

GTA IV with ENB Series runs better than without it. That is, ENB series with just reflections. Games, you crazy.
I changed the resolution to it's lowest then I changed the ratio to 16:9. I can now run it on medium.
Changing the aspect ratio isn't going to improve performance, the same amount of pixels are being rendered.
Hey headcrab we have the same pre-built :buddy: Except mine has everything but the motherboard swapped :v: Also I read something about scaling the lightmaps or reflection maps on the steam forums, a bunch of people said it really helps. Searching for it now [editline]16th January 2011[/editline] http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=384473 found it, not exactly the forum I was thinking about...

It runs about as well as Saints Row 2. Both are pretty crap port jobs. GTA4's multiplayer works better though.
Saints Row 2 is a lot worse [editline]15th January 2011[/editline] When it was released, it came with extremely limited widescreen support (or maybe even none, I don't remember), and the game was capped at 30 fps (not that you would get 30 fps anyway) among with many other problems
On EFLC, I can play it on ~high no problem on GTX 260 core 216, and AMD Phenom II 965 X4, even with graphics mods. It ranges from mid 30's to 60.
I run it at high at 1920 x 1080 :v: but suddenly I got some shitty bug that removed all the textures...
I'm borrowing the game from my friend to see how badly it runs on my pc; Specs: AMD Athlon 3200+ Single Core 2.0ghz. ATI Radeon HD3850. 2gb RAM. ASUS A8N SLI-Deluxe Mobo. 320gb HDD. Oh yeah baby :v:
People with good systems getting 30fps on low settings need to re-install gta iv completely and patch to 1.0.7.0 (A mod or something is eating performance) Any pc with a 2.4ghz dualcore and a half decent 512MB videocard should be able to run these settings at around 30fps Textures: Low (Medium -10fps) Reflection Quality: Medium Water Quality: Medium Shadow Quality: Medium Night Shadows: Off AF: 8x View Distance: 35 Detail Distance: 35 Car Density: 35 Clip Capture: On (-5fps)
I run this on a Macbook Pro with an i7 and a 330m and I barely get 20-40fps depending on where I am in the game. I run it at 1200x800, medium-low settings. Somehow I feel that I should be getting a little more performance out of this.
