Asus G50v-x1
Has an overheating problem when playing games for a long time sans icepack
I've had it heat up till the CPU was 85 degrees Celsius and the GPU was 105 degrees Celsius
Fixed it temporarily by undervolting and underclocking
Specs:
500GB hard drive (upgraded)
4GB DDR2-667 RAM
GeForce 9700M GT
Windows XP
C2D T5750
Really? I have a G50v-X1 too. My temps are normal. I bought an Antec Cooling fan for it at the back because the bottom has an intake vent.
Here's the think I bought: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834997396

Usually I'm all up for Laptop gaming but that setup makes me cringe, If you are going to use it like that you might as well have a desktop.
I guess you still get slightly better mobility this way but wow.
:D lol i had no more room to fit a desktop.
Doesn't look like you tried very hard to make space though
Hey Facepunch,
I know there is a certain bias against laptops, even a gaming laptop, but they aren't given enough credit. There have been threads dedicated to posting your desktop, but I want to see what laptops you guys are rocking out there. The fact is laptops are holding there own in gaming lately, and not just alienware. Asus, MSI, Acer, and Gateway are producing some great products. And there are many others which may not be suitable for gaming, but are definitely performance laptops.
Here is mine, an HP Dv6000. It isn't very good, but I do some light gaming, mostly source games. It is about a year and half old now.
-snip-
Excuse the shitty quality, my camera isn't too good, and lighting was horrible.
I have the exact same laptop as you. I'm typing this on it now. Is it really capable of playing source engine games? The most I've gotten out of it was Age of Mythology and Half Life.

it's P8600 and 2X Bluray Drive, and in the description that you linked us to in your thread says it only plays Bluray discs, hahaha.

A little mixup with the processor name.
As for the Bluray thing, I don't know if you're acting stupid or if you're simply jealous, but it said Read Only for Bluray, meaning it will only read Blurays, not write to them. However, it will normally read and write normal DVDs.
gg.

The one on the left is a d630 and the other two are d600's, the one on the far right is acting as the DNS and DHCP server for the house, not to mention being set up under a DFS namespace with the one UNDER the d630.
Also all of these were free.

I had left 4 dead running on mine
My Inspiron 1545. I like the widescreen. I don't really play any games on it besides N64 ROMS and such.
