Hi I have a few questions about graphics cards
1. Is two gtx 470s better than a 580gtx?
2. Are those cards good for processing physics?
3. Could two 470's fit in a MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO.,LTD 790FX-GD70(MS-7577) 1.0
([url]http://www.ixbt.com/mainboard/msi/790fx-gd70/board.jpg[/url])
4. Would you recommend different cards that process physics better? (under like around $550 and must be nvidia)
Sorry if something on here is completely stupid, I don't know much about them
Specs
3.40 gigahertz AMD Phenom II X4 965
ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series [Display adapter] (2x)
mobo:790FX-GD70(MS-7577) 1.0
750watt power supply
Post full specs.

Also I think GTX 460s in SLi would be a better price to performance ratio.
I would say get a single GTX 570 for now, because going multi-GPU right off the bat can really limit your upgrade options later on
1) 90% sure it's a yes
2) not entirely sure what you mean by processing physics, is this for workstation stuff or do you just mean PhysX
3) they will fit but SLi isn't supported, and whether your PSU and the rest of your specs are up to scratch is also something to consider

Why not a 580? too pricey?
And how much better are 2x 470's compared to one 570

By processing physics i mean like spawning alot of props in gmod and such on. My friend said nvidia does that better, or is he wrong?
so i cant have two?
I'm not completely certain, but as far as I'm concerned, you need an Nvidia chipset to use SLI, whereas CF will work on all boards with two PCI-E slots.

he's completely wrong
in games that utilise PhysX some physics can be run on the GPU but there's so few of these games that it's not worth choosing a card specifically to use it, the only two I can think of off the top of my head are arkham asylum and mafia 2
as your card cannot SLi I'm going to strongly recommend that you wait a couple of weeks for AMD to release their new high end cards

And what will those be called an how much will they cost?
6950, 6970 and 6990
we won't know accurate prices until they're released

It should be out before christmas. And what games are you actually playing and at what resolution?

I play tf2, gmod, crysis, and fallout NV.
i usually play at 1600×1200 (or something that starts with a 1600) and sometimes 1920×1200.
If i get 1 or 2 of those new ati cards, could i spawn alot more and gmod and play fallout smoothly?

You should be able to do that with what you've got. And you probably mean 1680x1050.
well 1600x1200 was a pretty common resolution before widescreen was introduced
[editline]wefe[/editline]
wait actually because he said he also plays at 1920x1200 it probably is 1680x1050

Well another thing, my friend was playing battlefield 2, and he seemed to do better and not lag with his 8800 vs my 2 5850s..?
And yes 1680x1050
wait if you have 2 5850s then there's no point upgrading to 460s, 470s, or even a 580
and I really find it hard to believe that your friend runs BC2 better on a 8800

Well, it looked like it did.
Is there anything i can do to make sure my graphics card/crossfire is working properly.
And is 100fps in tf2 normal for those cards?
the only purpose to get a multi gpu solotution is multi monitor gaming. Just get a single high end card and if you want to upgrade later you can.

No? I have two fairly large LCD's I use for my homework. A textbook, calculator, etc on one screen, Microsoft Office on the other screen.
I said gaming, not multi monitor work solutions. I used a 4350 for my last work PC and ran 2 monitors off of it.
I also game with it on one 5770 and it runs fine...
I highly doubt anyone games on two monitors, I believe the minimum is 3+ (FPS based games, not sure about hawx and such)

Hey guys has anyone heard of this really cool game called Supreme Commander?
[QUOTE=Nipa;26705667]Hey guys has anyone heard of this really cool game called Supreme Commander?[/QUOTE]
Or X-Plane? Or Microsoft Flight Simulator? Or any decent driving simulator?
I cut the ends of the monitors off and sealed the ends with two traced pieces of plastic. Then glued them on. I can see my corsair fine now.
[editline]14th December 2010[/editline]
I'm debating weather or not I should fully dissassemble the monitors and make some sort of make shift case and stand for them both out of plexy glass or something.

I believe that nvidia surround requires at least 3 monitors with relatively close specs.
shit he said eyefinity, my bad.

If you manage to pull that off it would be awesome
