The reason I say this is because Comodo blocked nothing from getting on my computer, whereas both MSE and Avast did. Also tested it with some programs, didn't work still.
Then you didn't do it right. Comodo won't let anything on my computer do anything unless it asks me.
Comodo looks good, I might chip in and get that. That is when MSE decides it's had enough and deactivates itself because I somehow changed my windows install to an illegal copy in the past few days.
"Buy Norton bitch, its teh great3st av evar!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!one!" In all seriousness though I use AVG and haven't gotten a virus in a year or two.
:frog:
avira [editline]25th October 2010[/editline] take my word for it, it's a decent alternative to AVG
Here it is http://www.facepunch.com/threads/948262-Antiviruses-and-You-(aka-read-this-shit-because-a-lot-of-you-are-clueless)
Having read this + looked around I'm kinda torn between Avast and Comodo. Avast's gotten a lot of positive user feedback, yet that test puts it very low whereas Comodo ranks the best.
I personally use Avira. I tried Avast! but I kept having issues with it blocking programs I wanted to run and telling me nothing about blocking them. Even adding them to the exception list didn't fix it. Comodo sounds like a good alternative from what I've read and from MisterMooth's thread.
ClamAV clams up on security! :smug:
Expect MisterMooth to come along and possibly attempt to educate you if he can be bothered. But Comodo hasn't let anything through as far as I can see. It would only do that when on a shit setting.
I honestly can't be bothered
Recently got Avast. So far it's great, much better than AVG.
Use Avast! and common sense.
Microsoft Security Essentials it's free as long as you have a genuine windows OS. avast is decent, comodo firewall is useful too.
Installed Comodo. Gonna see how it performs and if I'm not satisfied I'll switch to Avast to see how that works.
I use Avast
I use comodo so far nothing has got past it
I was using Kaspersky, then I briefly installed Avira to try it out. I ended up uninstalling Avira and started using Microsoft Security Essentials. MSE is a great antivirus program and it's free!

New malware will usually get past it straight away, especially if you haven't updated.
Microsoft Security Essentials, works wonders.

It's a capable tool and once configured gives rather solid protection, but it isn't close to the be all end all. It comes to do what apps you use and what you use them for, and your general internet habits as to which app suits you best.
How does Panda Cloud fair against the other free AV's?
MSE and malwarebytes.
How does Panda Cloud fair against the other free AV's?
The detection and hueristic behavior algorithm is one of the best in the industry. Panda tends to detect new stuff simply through behavior detection.
Avast!
It's clearly dependent on how much downloading you are doing (i.e roms, gif porn, images ect.). It is also clearly how much interaction you have with websites, if you are going to a dodgy website, pretty much any LEGAL anti-virus will work. [editline]27th October 2010[/editline] With my biased decision: AVG With my unbiased decision but theirs: Avast, Panda Cloud
Avast!
