Don't those mechanisms usually have a thing where you push the card in to release it?
If it's stuck on the mechanism, try pushing it with a paperclip and see if it unlocks

It's not clear exactly how the mechanism works, I've poked around enough I don't want to do any accidental damage.

Then take it to a professional. If the camera is that expensive, I'm willing to bet service is going to be cheaper.

Man just tell your dad and get it repaired. Not sure if you did yet, but if you didn't, do you really want to break his camera even more after trying to fix it because you already broke it once?

OKay I told my dad ages ago, he tried the same thing. Yeah Know how the mechanism works but everything's so small it's not clear exactly which bit does what.
I've printed the shipping form and the picture in OP, had to sort the bloody post office's printer, thankfully they didn't charge but fuck me Linux is terrible.
So yeah, i just need to get it boxed up and hope the company doesn't try and con me into just paying them to put in a new SD reader.
