And I'm Talking about in a TV context (Actually, More like the HDTV spec in general), If someone is going to pick at my rant, then I need to be specific about it. You think one of the biggest governing industries to do with visual media would have /Some/ Influence on the Spec. The only Logical explanation to me is the fact that 16:9 and 4:3 content on a 2.35:1 screen can get silly-small.. But then why wasn't it 2:35:1 from the start?
Get a ACER x233H fucking awesome monitor, got mine @ J&R electronics. Maybe pick up 2, for those dual monitor games.. Or get a better or another graphics card with that extra cash. cheers good luck
I picked up one of these a few months ago. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&sku=320-7345&s=dhs It's really really awesome for 200 bucks. Full 1080p and hdmi inputs. It even has a weird stand that has a nice circular indent perfect for putting coins.
I hate how we have 1080P widescreen, 16:9, then the idiots go and edit the movie for some other stupid ratio leaving you with hundreds of thousands of black pixels, what a waste. Every bluray movie I own still leaves me with black bars and I have a 42" LG HDTV... (Yes I am aware some of these strange aspect ratios are due to the film used in the cameras - And No I don't have it set up wrong - And no I won't set it to stretch.) /rant
if your running it through a pc use either nvidia's or ati's hdmi resize desktop tool to get rid of black bars
if your running it through a pc use either nvidia's or ati's hdmi resize desktop tool to get rid of black bars
Then you will get the picture stretched and everybody will look :downs: I personally prefer black bars with right aspect ratio. [editline]07:31AM[/editline]
No need to be an asshole you Twit. Then TV's (Or indeed, the HDTV spec) should be wider. let's see, 4 random films off my shelf: 2.35:1, 2.40:1, 2.35:1, 2.35:1 So 3 of the 4 I picked are in 2:35:1... So why in gods name is the HDTV spec 16:9. - It's a waste of pixels that us, the consumer (Almost certainly intending to watch films) , Paid for. All I am saying is, If the general thing people buy TVs for is to watch films, And most films are in wider ratios, Why don't they make more tvs in said ratio. (Yes I know such TVs are available)
And I am not totally sure, but I think there are (were) construction problems with extremely wide screens, so you could get either normal 4:3 screen, or 2.35:1 PORTION of the 4:3 screen for the same price, so 2.35:1 would be real waste, because 4:3 would show the 2.35:1 same way, and normal 4:3 picture even better.
Keep an eye on those milliseconds gentlemen. There is a clear difference between my friends 5ms and my 2ms.
2ms is GTG, same thing as 5ms.
This is my monitor, runs at 2MS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236051 /endthread
why don't you listen? 2ms GTG is the same as 5ms
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824176110&Tpk=HP%202159 It's gloss but i don't see what all the hate is, it actually reduces glare for me, which i'm pretty sure is the function of it. And the colors are pretty good.

And that monitor sucks for the price, there are better for cheaper.
hmm ok, but what's wrong with glossy screens?
glare up the fucking ass. they reflect every single shed of light possible, it's horrible. they're easier to clean, yeah, but that's no reason to get one. [editline]10:32PM[/editline]
I hate how we have 1080P widescreen, 16:9, then the idiots go and edit the movie for some other stupid ratio leaving you with hundreds of thousands of black pixels, what a waste.
hmm ok, but what's wrong with glossy screens?
Glare out the ass, shows dust, scratches, etc. And if the OEM decided it was a great idea to put stickers on the monitor (I don't give a fuck if it's energy star that doesn't really mean anything) then the residue from those stickers will be on the monitor forever unless you find a way to remove it (i'm guessing something like goo gone but instead you should get hardware that doesn't have bullshit like that)
