I would assume because the second you plug it in, drivers are already preinstalled so you don't need to dick around with third party software. It's also compatible with a lot of games. But I don't know what the Logitech is compatible with. I'm just guessing through my experience with the 360 controller.
Compatability makes sense but for my Logitech you can install drivers but you don't need to, it's plug and play. Windows instantly recognizes the device as a gamepad and takes you to the controller screen.
