I am convinced that OP doesn't know anything about components.
And I am quite convinced that you don't know anything about electronics and all you know is that which GPU is better than other and what is best budget gaming build, just like majority of Hardware and Software forums
And I am quite convinced that you don't know anything about electronics and all you know is that which GPU is better than other and what is best budget gaming build, just like majority of Hardware and Software forums
Why would anyone in the hardware and software forum HAVE to know anything about electronics?
"oh no, someone throws his money into a computer, and his is better than mine, oh my god, this is so overkill and unneeded"
for FUCKS sakes, let people build whatever they want.
That's not my problem, I agreed, but OP should think that throwing money on very expensive components is not a good idea. I mean, i7 980x processor, come on
And his build is too ridiculous that I could consider better than mine.
People just need to be at least reasonable, goddamn
Why would anyone in the hardware and software forum HAVE to know anything about electronics?
Well, I meant computers in general
Well, I meant computers in general
Thats the other way round mate, if I had said:
Why would anyone HAVE to know anything about computers?
You could have said:
Well, I meant electronics in general
"Computers" is a small part of electronics, thus you can not use the term "in general" this way.

A i7 980 isn't a gaming CPU, it's mostly for video editing, people who does 3ds max (I guess) and other shit like that. At the same time a GTX 470 isn't a workstation card or something like that, so I guess this is for gaming-purposes.
All-in-all; this is just a complete waste of money.
Thanks at least for some people, like GoDong-DK, Greendolphin and thf, who can understand the silliness of this build.

He has the money
He wants to throw his money into a computer like that
Then let him do.
GoDong DK and ADT are both generally shit posters.

Anything revelant to say again, hmm?
[editline]05:03PM[/editline]
It's like you can't bear anyone who say things unlike your mind.
[editline]05:04PM[/editline]
I'm still suprised you support this kind of bad build, though
It's really just a bad build. I won't stand in the way for him to use money, but he doesn't need to use all the money right now. He can get a high-end build for 1500$ or less, and upgrade it over the years, it's a way better solution. And Falubii, we don't want a flame war.
It's like that dumb newegg ares limited edition combo build; it's ridiculously overpriced when compared to how much you're going to use that power, and you're never going to find a practical use for all that power.
for those who don't know what i'm talking about, http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.466347
You could cut prices by going with 1156 instead of 1366, since they're both being phased out anyway. Unless you're doing rendering, you don't need more than 6gb of ram, and 4gb would still probably cut it anyway.
Work station? The Nvidia name doesn't make it a workstation card. It may perform slightly better in workstation-themed settings, but it's not a "workstation" card per se.
And keep in mind the long term power costs of running an overkill build. Where I live it's 43 cents a kilowatt hour.
I just think your insulting demeanor towards the OP was uncalled for. It's his choice if he wants the 980X. I think he should get a Rampage III Formula, 930, and two GTX 480s. He get can get a larger PSU (1200W) and if the performance isn't enough (that wont happen) he can add a third.
As for graphic card, GTX 460 1GB are pretty good, especially when overclocked (Reach the same performance as GTX 470 when overclocked to 800Mhz).
Yeah but you can't fully max out any game at 60FPS on a full HD monitor with one, or probably even two

Exactly. This isn't some hardcore gaming pee-cee its for Compiling Maps/Code and then being able to do something else on a different monitor like play a game or map.
also I worked over the summer for the money for this. Let me spend whatever the fuck I want so I can suite my needs, I just need some advice on the Psu.

Why do I have to cut down on my budget when I have the money. Its not like I am begging. I earned it over the summer and this is what I want to do with it.

Again. Why do I need to cut down on what I am spending?
[editline]12:49PM[/editline]
OP doesn't understand that he can just go fine with a single graphic card, a quad-core processor (from Intel 1156 socket or AMD AM3 socket), 4GB of RAM, and an 650-750W PSU.
And all this for almost the same price of a single i7 980x processor
That wouldn't suit my needs and I somewhat want to futureproof myself
[editline]12:51PM[/editline]

:10bux: You are pissed off because someone else is planning on getting a better PC than you so you are telling them to downgrade so your e-pean doesn't go down. You've been doing it the entire thread. Please. Fucking. Stop.
[editline]12:52PM[/editline]
I'd go with 1200 to be safe or the 1000w, but 3 470's is overk-k-k-kill
Stop complaining.
[editline]12:53PM[/editline]
tl;dr I got the 1200w psu and I am going to finish my build this weekend. + ADT and Go-Dong are shit posters upset because they aren't the best/getting there way.
You still didn't understand from your previous topic, did you?
[editline]09:00PM[/editline]
And no, I'm really happy with my current build, even if I had the "same" amount of money I gained during summer like you. At least I wasn't stupid enough to throw on very expensive components
[editline]09:00PM[/editline]
If you really want compelling things n' shit, the X6 processors are better solution and way way cheaper. But since you consider yourserlf that AMD processors are shit, that's really sad
They are cheaper but they aren't better according to every benchmark I fucking read.
I didn't even pick most of the parts out for this build Oddellus did, I simply told him my needs/wants
Your build is still completely overkill compared to your needs
And that's not futureproof (since hardware evolve fast and unpredictably), it's just called bullshit.
Does it matter if its overkill? Its my money, I worked my ass off for it instead of saying "Daddy can i have 1500 miney for a peecee?"
The fact that you are shit posting in an attempt to aggravate me is fucking dumb.
You could save up your money on more important things than your PC, for example.
But since you are too stubborn to listen anyone else (I mean not only me, but other people on this thread like GreenDolphin or QuadCoreGman), why I should bother to repeat the same thing at you?
But I want to do this and you seem opposed for no apparent reason.
It's like you just need to burn your entire money right now without thinking twice.
[editline]09:19PM[/editline]
-damn automerge broken-
[editline]09:23PM[/editline]
But I want to do this and you seem opposed for no apparent reason.
Because I'm afraid that what you are going to do, will be your biggest mistake ever made. It's not my own problem, though. You just need to re-evaluate your future build and think calmly about it
its not a mistake if I've been thinking of it for 6ish months.
The point is after a certain point you won't get a lot more performance, but you'll have to pay a lot more for it. This is why it's a waste of money. You could only get two 470s to start with and if you really need more then just get another later
That isn't even what the thread about. My mind is set on my other specs, I just want info on the PSU. I want to get the 1200w anything else?
Well since you don't want any other advice (which is fair enough I suppose) all I will say is a 1000W PSU is fine for your build, but if you want to future proof a bit more then go ahead and get the 1200 is you can afford it
If you've been witing for six months, wait some months more for Bulldozer. You're computer will stop being some of the best you can get in January. And prices on the i7 will drop when the sandy bridge is released. If you want my advice,(shitposting alert) which you've been reluctant to receive, don't get that build, it's overkill. Wait some months and you'll be able to overkill even more and a good bit cheaper. And stop flaming, it'll get reported.
Edit: FINLEY, it isn't fair enough that he doesn't want any advice.
please state these "needs"
because 3 470s = lol
lol
lol
I've got a bass guitar that cost more than this build.
Why is it such an issue if someone spends large sums of money on a single object? - I'd do the same, if I alloted £2k for a computer, I will damn well spend £2k on a computer.
