I have no problem with high-end computer, what are you talking about? (I can even recommend GTX 480 when it's possible for example) There is a difference between having an high-end build and a ridiculous build
stop threadshitting and :frog:
Take away one of the gpus any thing more powerfull then a gtx260 is a waste unless you want two or more screens.
I am running 3 monitors your argument is invalid
stop threadshitting and :frog:
Boy, I know you are smarter than this post, but don't plan a flame war [editline]04:05PM[/editline]
still don't get it do you
You neither
Just stop posting ADT, it's no use. The OP is not going to change his view. This thread, horrible as it was, and I can't say I didn't contribute to that, should just die. Just get a Corsair 1200W or something along those lines. And xxncxx, ADT is right, you're smarter than just writing something like that.
The more drives, the more power the power demands. I would say a 1000 would be nice. If you got more than two drives though, 1500 might be batter.
Are you seriously suggesting that hard drives consumes most of the power within a computer?
That's for people like GoDong and ADT that we need a proper H&S mod :/
That's for people like GoDong and ADT that we need a proper H&S mod :/
You're basing this of one thread? I never said anyone was an idiot or said he should shut his fucking mouth and stop posting in this thread, somewhat in contrast to OP and other people here. I had problems with understanding why OP would need a build of this caliber, and it was first when Odellus pointed out that he gets 50% off on Intel CPU's that I understood somewhat that he wanted an i7 980. I still don't really like the tri-SLI setup and the 12GB RAM, but I if it can't be different I accept it. Everybody agrees with your statement that we need a proper mod, but the start could be to not post things like this as it in most cases will end in a shitstorm. The one that shitposted most in this thread was the OP.
That's for people like GoDong and ADT that we need a proper H&S mod :/
We need H&S deleted
For cad/compiling/decoding work get an intel Xeon quad core and an ATI Firepro.(Nvidia quaddro fx) Also exspensivebut way more usefull for any 3d programm since there is no modeling program can use more then one GPU. You are either a 19yo who really cant hndle money or a troll.
An 18 year old's car insurance can cost more...

Let's just let this thread die, OP's not gonna change his build anyway anyhow.
I like how everyone is saying that pentium is computer illiterate because they don't have any experience with workstations and servers [editline]08:34PM[/editline] ie:
Are you seriously suggesting that hard drives consumes most of the power within a computer?
[editline]08:35PM[/editline]
3 GTX 480s.
oh fuck what why most games would crash on startup the drivers are nowhere near mature enough for that right now
ie:
I'm constantly working with high end servers and workstation, but saying a hard drive needing 500w to operate in a thread like this would be pure absurd [editline]03:17PM[/editline] Plus, there are no modern 3.5 inch hard drive that would need that much power to operate anyways.
not having experience with workstations or servers doesn't suddenly mean that hard drives use 500W
you've obviously never used a 15000 RPM SAS drive
you've obviously never used a 15000 RPM SAS drive
It doesn't uses 500W. Somehow, I doubt you used one too.
I never said that they use 500W, I'm saying they use a lot more power than your average midrange consumer hard drive.
I never said that they use 500W, I'm saying they use a lot more power than your average midrange consumer hard drive.
not really
Well I am going to be conducting a build and the fucking power supply units are haunting me again. I will be running 3 nVidia gtx 470's I called into memory express today expressing my concern and they said to definitely get the 1500w silverstone witch I somehow think they are fucking around with me because its a 400$ psu. Ill go for a 1200w psu but is it necesarry to go beyond a 1kw psu, especially with the gtx 470's. Well I am stumped.
Are you stupid or what?
Why reply, especially with such a stupid comment?
I'm building a similar ring myself, for high-end gaming and H.264 blu-ray encoding. That shit takes ALOT of power from the CPU. GPU encoders are fast, but the quality just isn't there. I'm going for an i7 960, 12GB DDR3, and two 5970s in Crossfire.
Was going to rip my collection of bluray films to my HTPC. Re-encoding them was going to take 10 hours per film on my puny AMD Athlon 6000+ x2. In the end I decided it was more cost effective to just but a couple of 2TB drives and leave them as they came off the disc. Cheaper, and no waiting for the encoding process. The downsides never came into it for me, really.

OP bought an i7 980 (I know half price), 12GB DDR3 and Triple-SLI GTX 470, and when Pixel Heart mentions his build everyone just says it's overkill. Not saying it's not overkill, but come on. Í thought "If he got the money let him use it" was the catchphrase now.
