Didn't mention them because never had an MSI card, plus they tend to be more expensive than the rest on the market.
Interesting, in the US they're always priced with equivalent XFX, EVGA, Gigabyte, etc cards.

Too bad that's the future of laptops...
Too bad that's the future of laptops...
Really? Because I can still go out and buy a brand new Latitude that has 3 USB 3.0, VGA, HDMI, RJ45, SD cards, smart card reader, expandable m.2 slots and generally serviceable parts. It isn't razor thin and has a 4 cell battery.
You guys act like these laptops don't exist anymore. They do, they're just not marketed to your average consumer, because your average consumer doesn't really need these features anymore.
I think it was a bad call getting rid of the usual ports on the MBP, but that said I have the plain 12" rMB and I never plug anything into it. I do have a mouse but it's Bluetooth and works flawlessly. It does work for some folks, but really getting rid of your usual smorgasbord of ports on the Pro model probably isn't smart.

That's the key. Don't buy consumer oriented laptops. Many enterprise geared ones still retain these features fortunately.
I still want the cMBP back. Optical drive (or second HDD), OS X, and a full suite of ports and it's super easy to service. Just keep making that with up to date modern parts and displays and that's the only Apple laptop I'll ever need. Innovation for Innovation's sake is terrible.

The problem is they're fading out and getting more expensive.
They know they can demand the price for those who isn't using their laptop as a glorified web browser and spreadsheet machine.

2017 Ford Escape SE. Had 10 miles on it off the lot. Should be a little less easy to steal than a '96 Honda.
Lucky, I love that color. I'm hoping to get a Fusion in the near future in that color but they are apparently uncommon slightly used here because all everyone ever wants is White or Black. Maybe Silver. I could settle with Charcoal Grey.

Eh, I can go pick up a Latitude E5570 on ebay for $500-600 that still has a 3 year warranty. If I decide to go with something other than an XPS I'm probably picking up a 7270 on ebay for like $700-800 that still has 3 years too.
[editline]27th October 2016[/editline]
And even new it's still cheaper than a MBP

The only charcoal grey they had was either an SEL or Titanium trim (at least in the Escapes)... I'm already at the upper bound of my price range with the SE trim. The charcoal grey with the black sports package is really damn good looking though.
I honestly hadn't heard anything negative about them anywhere.
Edit: Also, people are going to disagree with me here, but it's personal. I have no use for DisplayPort outputs. I really need 2 HDMI and DVI.
I have the 8GB 1306Mhz 480 Nitro+ and besides one of the fans being bad out of the box (which I was luckily able to get replaced super easily) it's a great card.
Well well well.
Got a call today from someone at my former employer's, asking for a lunch meeting. This just got interesting.

Remember, if they want to hire you back, get them to atleast knell and yell "OH MAN OH GOD OH SHIT OH DAMN WE FUCKED UP AND WE'RE SO SORRY", and the obvious pay raise.

Feels like part of a talesfromtechsupport story
So I got my N64 back and god DAMN I never noticed the frame rate dropped that bad.
Especially in Super Mario 64.

Even then, I might turn it down. The timing of it was kind of shitty but in retrospect, it was just the kick in the ass I needed to start actually making video games.
I'll see if I can wrangle part-time from them. 24 hr/week for them, 16 hr/week on my own shit.
Oh, and I have an "interview" elsewhere on Monday, angling for the same thing ("interview" in quotes because it would be for in-house development at a non-tech shop, the dev they already have owes me a life-debt, and if they hire anyone at all it's all but guaranteed to be me).
This is going to be really interesting.
The new MacBook Pro looks really nice, but it only has USB-C connectors. That's a deal breaker for me though, since I don't want to use an adapter every time I want to plug something in.
I'm really glad it only has USB-C though; it'll force progress towards using the new USB-C connector instead of the old fat A connector.

More like everyone will have to carry around A-C adapters because it's cheaper than rebuying everything.

USB-C to USB3 hub.

Soon enough everything is going to use the new connector but that will probably take some more years. It's a start tho. If anything, use a usb c to usb 3 hub. Those exist right now. I haven't tried any of them because if I needed a hub, I'd use the usb 3 to 4 usb 3 hubs since I already have one. I would get one if I needed a hub that can actually push enough power out and not cause issues. Gotta use those 2 thunderbolt 3 ports I have one way or another besides just using it for the docking station.
Also apple didn't refresh anything else unfortunately.
More like everyone will have to carry around A-C adapters because it's cheaper than rebuying everything.
That's irrelevant to my point. I'm referring exclusively to new products getting made; not shit you already own.

You think SM64 is bad? Try any of the Rareware titles. Banjo-Tooie and Conkers Bad Fur Day are like the console's most impressive games and its not uncommon for the framerate to fall into the single digits and stay there in certain areas. The final boss in Conker's Bad Fur Day was difficult solely because of the abysmal framerate, that would go up and down depending on if it happened to be decoding MP3 dialog. Its nuts.
Squishy squishy.

AT&T were out of their minds to use a fucking gel membrane for a touchscreen. You touch the screen expecting the cold hard glass but it's....squishy. It's so alien.

No, a cable toner is used to follow a cable and find out where it runs. It does not indicate if there's an active device plugged into the other end. It might actually damage the device because it is in no way compliant.
Rest in fucking piss.
What the fuck is it. It happened in a video in MPC-HC last night but I assumed the video itself was corrupted. Corruption scrolled with the page and I could put other windows on top of it and they were fine. So it's not contagious at least.
