920 is a damn fine CPU though. I still have one running OC'ed in my brothers machine.
Just give it a little nudge in voltage.
I've made it 7+ years at stock, I think I'll be good for a couple more months.
[sp]plus OC'ing scares me. I;ve already got funny noises from fans and shit, no need to push it.[/sp]

Have had the Logitech MX Performance and that one lasted for ages before I bought the MX Master and never have or had any issues whatsoever.
Owned like 3 Logitech mice over 10 years or so. I didn't even need to buy another one after my G400, I just wanted to. I love my G402.
Technically they all still work, it's just that my MX518 likes to get LMB stuck a lot.

HDD plates are ridiculously hard.
I remember taking one out of a broken HDD, and even though the metal was thin it was absolutely fucking impossible to at all bend by hand.

I don't know why you guys are disagreeing with me, my G602 middle mouse button is broken and this one is a replacement for the same issue. I'm not the only one:

It sucks because this is legitimately my favorite Logitech mouse ever. I don't give a shit if wireless sucks compared to wired, this is the best wireless mouse I've ever used.
Interesting, Teamviewer 12 claims you can now get "up to" 60fps remote desktop streaming so video editing is possible...

Probably would require an insane amount of bandwidth to accomplish it though

How common are the really fragile glass platter ones?
I once shattered a drives platters by driving a screwdriver in one side and out the other.
Sounds like you need a Microcenter.
I mentioned it here before, but I went to the Kansas City Microcenter and it was a life altering experience. Even the geographically challenged cashier made the visit amazing ("You're from Sioux Falls SD? Isn't the one in Denver closer?")
Bless her heart. The correct answer is Minneapolis. Its only a 4 hour drive.
Still, it explains why not many people here are computer enthusiasts. Poor local selection. Every purchase must be well researched and hope its not DOA, because even with 2 day shipping, waiting sucks.
You should come to the Denver one anyways so we can spend money on shit we don't need.

According to wikipedia, laptop drives are usually made with glass platters and desktop drives uses metallic platters.
However, manufacturers are starting to shift towards glass platters in general since it's more advantageous, but I suppose glass patters costs significantly more than aluminum platters.

Real talk, I want to go to Denver someday. My parents wanted to take us there for a family trip, but then 2008 came around and it never happened.
Shit I just like travelling in general. Its such a rare thing for me to ever do. Southeast SD is so goddamn boring when 100,000 miles of your driving as been exclusively in that area. I just navigate based on what I see rather than street signs.

I use a set of tin snips for dealing with HDD platters. No shredder

Nah, these 4 old machines are going to be recycled but the drives might contain credit card info so I had to destroy the platters. I didn't have any torx drivers that would fit, and as said earlier the IBM drive broke my drill bits, so I had to claw the casing apart with a hammer and chisel.

Anvil and sledgehammer.
Or if fancy, hydraulic press [sp](no seriously, I know a datacenter where they use just that to destroy drives)[/sp].

Over the years I've perfected my computer troubleshooting order: reboot, reboot again, check wall-to-case power, check if everything's seated correctly (connectors, but ALSO any cards and RAM), check the CMOS battery (even just reseating it has miraculously brought dead computers back), and only then start taking things apart.
Sometimes things gets fixed when I fully shut down, then turn on the computer. Rebooting doesn't turn everything off and on again anyways.

This hacker space in Toronto has a hydraulic press for crushing pop cans for recycling. They obviously have used it to crush other stuff but I don't think it can crush a hard drive.

When I worked for the city, they threw HDDs and phones that couldn't be wiped into the smelter at a local mining company. Literally throwing stuff into lava.
Oh dear, it seems to cost a fortune for same exact specifications but with Full HD (1080p) display, wtf.
Probably not many in stock since not many people buy it so the price goes up (aside from having the more expensive 1080p panel instead of the mass produced, cheaper, shit tier 768p display).
But yeah getting at least a 1080p display on a 15.6 inch laptop is a must to me. I remember using a 768p laptop for video editing. It wasn't fun and neither was Premiere Pro's export window. It was like 800 pixels tall so it was hard to press the export button. Fun times.
I had my day all set for an early and easy commute home, then a system fucked up and now I have to fight my way through Boulder traffic to get home. Fuck you too Windows.

You poor soul. I haven't had to do something that rash before but I wouldn't be surprised if I will have to one day.
Speaking of remote desktopping, that moment when you're on your bed, your computer is too far away and bed gravity is too strong so you use your phone to remote desktop into your computer instead. What a world we live in today.

It's a shame their newer ones (like the MX Master) only have a 1 year warranty compared to the previous ones which has a 3 year warranty.
