What exactly is "applied computer systems"?
"hey can you help me with this laptop" "what's wrong" "i've been trying to back it up with time machine and it hasn't done anything in a reasonable amount of time" target disk didn't work, tried to recover stuff from DocumentRevisions-v100 folder, got 54 files out of it of course they were all just null bytes
Also we found out that one of the IBM SAS racks was never updated past the factory firmware. IBM sent us a replacement for a new drive to replace a failed one (it was a 2.5 in Lenovo drive in a 3.5 inch IBM adapter, but okay). But as soon as we put it in, much to our horror, all the blinkenlights on the SAS controller went out and then stopped except for blinking ever so often. Turns out there is a bug in the factory firmware that will cause both the primary controller AND the redundant controller to boot loop indefinitely if you put one of these 12 Gb/s 2.5 drives in. Subsequently, it brought down our VDI environment and virtual servers for the next 45 minutes while we frantically tried to reset everything. It never ends this shit. I mean seriously, how was I supposed to guess that? I'm getting sick of firmware bugs.
I'm writing a paper about the Turing Test for my philosophy class and I swear I am going to go insane trying to provide a good argument to if the test is a good way to determine if a machine can think. I don't even know if I can think anymore

So AT&T's new mobile share plans have been fucking up big time and not throttling data so they are basically unlimited which means I can use a laptop at home for basic web browsing for now. I decided to buy a laptop finally after not having one for years and went and got a Macbook Pro. And no, I didn't get one of those two-port ones. I got the last gen. The 5-7% bump in performance didn't give me enough reason to make that big of a cut back on features. And I've got to say, this is probably the best laptop I've ever gotten to use. Thing is wicked lightweight and runs flawlessly.
Oh great, got called in at 10:30 PM because the Radio Station's server went down. Turns out all the RAM on this R610 except for one stick are dead. Or at least the server marked them as dead. So now our two webservers, streaming and backup servers are all running on 4GB. And it takes about a month to get purchase orders approved through the university. It's times like these when I wish we weren't a university club and I could actually get paid for working. [editline]7th November 2016[/editline] Upon further inspection we're apparently running Server 2007 32-bit so I guess that extra memory doesn't even matter. Who the fuck set this thing up?
Probably not many in stock since not many people buy it so the price goes up (aside from having the more expensive 1080p panel instead of the mass produced, cheaper, shit tier 768p display). But yeah getting at least a 1080p display on a 15.6 inch laptop is a must to me. I remember using a 768p laptop for video editing. It wasn't fun and neither was Premiere Pro's export window. It was like 800 pixels tall so it was hard to press the export button. Fun times.
I am actually using a Surface Pro 3 right now, but I want to change to a 15.6 inch laptop because I think this is just too small (I use 200% scaling because smaller than that is unbearable), the touch screen with the pen actually turned out rather useless since my cheap USB Wacom tablet works better, and the battery life is actually not that great. I also have used Premiere Pro on my Surface Pro 3 and the export window just barely fits on this screen which is scaled to 1080x720, so I imagine it would work slightly better on a 768p display. Cost is a concern and that is why I am rather stuck here - get the laptop with an i7, SSD, 8GB RAM but with a 768p display, or the same CPU, SSD, and RAM but with a 1080p display and absolutely expensive.
https://youtu.be/w2sIiu3Zj90 skip to 33:31 RIP
Never got the whole "reflowing" thing, seems like a bandaid that will always end up ripping off and leaving you with a bigger problem than what you started with.
https://youtu.be/w2sIiu3Zj90 skip to 33:31 RIP
god damn it linus
Regarding my issues transferring files to a MicroSD card: Just using TeraCopy instead seems to fix the issue entirely. Goodnight.
This calls for DOUBLE the video cards hanging off his door next time.
So is the 70D still worth spending the money on or should I just man-up for an 80D? It's my first DSLR technically.
So is the 70D still worth spending the money on or should I just man-up for an 80D? It's my first DSLR technically.
The difference isn't (very) significant imo. You may be better off spending a bit more on optics.

There is dual core and quad core versions. If you plan on doing any more video editing, I'd recommend getting a quad-core CPU.
I'm specifically looking at this kit: https://www.amazon.com/Canon-EOS-70D-DSLR-Camera/dp/B013CSGCCG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1478582713&sr=8-3&keywords=canon+70d+pack And then a shotgun mic too because the built in one won't be enough.

A lot of the stuff that is included is really just cheap stuff you can get off eBay but instead it's in one box. But in general, looking at this for a beginner getting into DSLR photography, this is at least a start and you'd learn how to use stuff like tripods, flashes, etc. and get better ones later on.
that tripod looks like ass, flash cards look sketchy, flash looks potentially jank
that tripod looks like ass, flash cards look sketchy, flash looks potentially jank
Reviews say the flash is dodgy. Just by looking at it, it looks like a no-name SD card that probably is lieing about the Class 10 speeds with a higher chance of corrupting all of your photos and videos you take with it at some point, or it's super easy to snap. Looks like there is the OEM battery and battery charger, then one no-name brand battery. Bag is probably hella cheap. The tripod and monopod look super cheap and easy to break. I wouldn't trust a DSLR with the telephoto on the tripod without at least one hand holding it at all times. The battery grip is probably not OEM. Everything else looks like it's going to be ok but not amazing. The macro stuff is probably ok. I like how the pic has everything you see, including the lens caps and body caps just to make it look like you are getting more stuff out of this package.
Wouldn't really use the tri-pod or the flash as I'd be getting a Joby for a tri-pod, the optics are just for fun stuff. Plus, seeing as this is $50 LESS than the body and 1 lens from best buy I can't complain too much on it. I've also got my own memory cards to use.
Those screw-on lens adapters are shit. You're basically buying the camera and two meh lenses and they throw in a bunch of garbage for free. At least I know the brand Vivitar, mind you because they've been #1 in cheap camera accessories for decades.

Although if you think you are getting that extra stuff "basically for free" then I don't see why not. I personally wouldn't get this kit because there's stuff I'd never use out of it. If I need to do anything with macro photography or whatever else, I'd get or rent the proper lens for it, for the job. This kit just looks like it has a bunch of random cheap stuff added just to sell the package.
I'll probably be buying it all with an amazon card so I may just get the lens and body, grab a few other optics I may want, a Joby, and a shotgun mic and call it good.
honestly don't get a joby tripod get an actual tripod, please
+1. You're a billion times better off getting someting like a cheap Manfrotto or Mefoto, and then the camera with a single decent lens. If you buy garbage tier gear you're going to end up demotivated and frustrated, you're much better off with something low-mid range. If you absolutely want more lenses and want to do video you can get a lot of nice Eastern-European vintage lenses from when USSR was manufacturing Zeiss clones under brands like Helios. Just look on eBay and watch out for fungus!
honestly don't get a joby tripod get an actual tripod, please
But it's perfect for what I'll be using it for. I've got a decent tri-pod already from my old camera for any kind of still shots or stuff like that.
Well looks like my Xperia Z2 is over, must've knocked it down in my sleep because I found it lying on the ground with a crack in the screen. Apparently these phones' touch functions give up immediately upon the first crack? Is there anything I can do or should I just look at a new phone or some shit? also i was going to my first day of work today but without a phone i can't really book a bus, or get in touch with the people I need so fuck me
https://youtu.be/w2sIiu3Zj90 skip to 33:31 RIP
Go to 1:09:30. It's also gold.
I've got a nice big crack at the bottom of my Galaxy Core Prime and a nice thin one along the screen yet it still works exactly the same. So the touch screen on my phone is fucking hot garbage anyway.
Well it seems to be quite a deep gash across the entire screen so sadly that's not the case for me. I still have touch in a small corner but that doesn't really help me much
Can't contact anyone on your computer or book a bus on there?
