So a while ago my laptop semi-broke (after turning it off it won't turn on again for a few hours) and I've been looking for a replacement. Noticed that hey, there aren't many, but OLED laptops (#BlackLevelsMatter) are a thing now. Only problem is, larger-than-phone OLED screens still have worse yields than gold panning, so that model's sold out world wide. Except two days ago, one shop listed it as in stock. Ordered it immediately, but I didn't have enough in my bank account yet. Then yesterday, it went right back to "we don't have any and we have no idea when we're gonna get it either". Even the manufacturer had taken it down from their site, so I was getting a little worried. Well I just called the store and apparently they were gonna call me anyway because yes, this is the right model, they ordered a single one 3 months ago and just got it and I bought that single one available worldwide and if they weren't getting paid soon they'd have to cancel my order because they already have like 60 preorders for it again. Someone wipe this shit-eating grin off my face, or I think it's gonna stay there all day.
So either explorer or task manager are completely off with disk speeds. [vid]https://www.helifreak.club/files/20161117103547502.mp4[/vid]
I thought OLED had burn-in issues, making them not very optimal for use with computers?
It does, but with my usage (different OSes, media playback, dark themes) and screensavers it should be fine. Battery life also heavily depends on how bright the content is :v: I just find good colour reproduction really important.

Just got the bill for my yearly state tax, now adjusted to my income. I think I'm gonna pass up on a new macbook, and install ubuntu on my asus zenbook instead. that tax costs almost as much as my new Opel Corsa.
All that hardware and it comes with home edition?
Am I the only one nerdy enough here to follow CCC? If not: http://halfnarp.events.ccc.de/ Pretty good lineup this year I'd say.
Do you guys know any good schedule creator software? Haven't found any good one yet, need to be a 24h one.
Do you guys know any good schedule creator software? Haven't found any good one yet, need to be a 24h one.
I simply use Google Calendar to schedule my things. Mainly since it comes with Google Apps for Work (Now renamed to something idiotic...). Seems to work well enough for me and is usable from any device.
Installed a Gigabit switch onto my desk today, and I think I nearly inadvertently sabotaged the whole thing. Plug was too short leading to a major extension lead rewiring operation under my desk which with several plugs and tangles everywhere was no mean feat, and I had to strategically place the box in the first place because I ordered cables that were verging on too short. Not one of my brightest days in technology I think.
I'm pretty sure income tax from employment is always directly deducted from your paycheck in USA Same for Canada
Same for Australia. Don't know why you'd do it as a yearly thing, that sounds annoying.
In America , normally, our taxes come out of every paycheck.
If you're an employee. If you're a contractor or self employed you do it yourself. Even then you're usually asked to submit quarterly which is a pain in the ass.
I'm pretty sure income tax from employment is always directly deducted from your paycheck in USA Same for Canada
Not always, but if your on a W2 yeah. [editline]17th November 2016[/editline] Fucking BRT I should have refreshed.
Source: Am Contractor and should be doing quarterly taxes. But... I almost died trying to do it.
car shaped mouse because why not
My dad had a wireless one shaped like a Mustang a few years ago. It was really comfortable, actually.
MS is changing dreamspark to inspire. And they got windows server 2016 on it. So now I gotta find out how I can still get it. I messaged my university because since they moved to Google Apps in like 2012, we should have our FAU email for life apparently, but my account is deactivated. If I can get my fau email I could nab WS2016
Something burst in my house and water came down all in my kitchen and pantry. Yay insurance.

[editline]17th November 2016[/editline]
I know what you meant. You can just tell how much features are packed on this badass sound card just by the sheer size and number of ICs: [t]http://s011.radikal.ru/i317/1205/c3/db686ea8bc7c.jpg[/t] Yes, those are RAM sticks. ON A SOUND CARD. [editline]16th November 2016[/editline] And yes, there are THREE IDE headers that lets you directly plug your CD-ROM to the card
I actually have one of those with bonus bodge wiring from the last owner. No RAM in it though.
I used to run one on an NT box but the drivers were buggy as fuck so I had to switch to an AWE64.
