I really want to see someone manage to hack shit together to get Windows to boot off a tape drive. Maybe include a timelapse of the boot process.
Checked the cyber Monday sales on Amazon and ordered an ssd for my ThinkPad. Time to reinstall windows 7 on it (instead of windows 10 because it was a bitch and a half to get the touch screen and other stuff working properly).

Hopefully this one is good. Budgeted like $100 in total to spend on this thing and I'm waiting for most of the stuff from eBay.
Of course I don't get paid until Wednesday so I can't buy anything on Cyber Monday. Was going to order a small mechanical keyboard and some of these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017TTACNO/ref=twister_B00NYBGNQ2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Listened to them in store and oh my god they are good.
There were really good SSD offers on Black Friday, but I didn't have money for 'em.

That's crazy good details.
Also I have a bunch of those JVC SX tapes and are from the 2000's. So, you found an anachronism. :v:
Back in May my 980 Ti G1 would randomly start hitting max fan speed even when it was cool. And max fan speed on this thing is loud. I remember reinstalling drivers and uninstalling afterburner.
It began doing it again yesterday and it's so fucking annoying. I can't keep my computer on when I go to bed because it will randomly start screaming at me in the middle of the night and wake me up.

What happens if you define your own fan curve in Afterburner?
It should override the Nvidia driver+card firmware behavior.

It ignores it it seems. When set to 20% fan speed it's maxed out. When at 50, maxed, when at 1, maxed. When at 0, maxed.
Card is at like 35c on idle because of it and 55c in OW which maxes out my whole system.
Again, never had issues in the past and no issues now other than Fallout 4 not launching which issue I originally started with. So is there any way to fix this or should I resintall Win 10?

You mean you don't get crystal insulated silver cables? Interference and noise is a big issue in digital communication.

I'm an audiophile that gets a smug sense of superiority from making fun of other audiophiles.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

So what the shit is going on here because an error window shows up each time this MSI laptop boots up.
Your config file for MSI System Control Manager (scm.exe) is fucked up apparently
So what the shit is going on here because an error window shows up each time this MSI laptop boots up.
It seems, someone fucked up how MSI System Control Manager handles user configuration. File at
C:\Users\Gary\AppData\Local\MSI\SCM.exe_Url_zv0ik cohnhzptbjtykvepncdk0ijftla\13.16.6153.0\user.conf
Either try deleting it or reinstall MSI SCM
