Wow Windows 7 Update is a heap of shit. Conveniently enough, there's this thread with some solutions.
What is the point of uncompressed media when TAK, APE, FLAC, ALAC, etc exist and store the same data in less space? CDs also don't work well with phones or support anything over 16 bit depth. When I get CDs they get ripped to FLAC and then put away.
Sometimes you can find a song on MP3 but you can't get an uncompressed file, just a CD on ebay. I know a 24 bit DAC is definitely better than a 16 bit one, but I've never been able to tell the different between a 24-bit audio file and a 16-bit one.
Unless you're out of SATA ports. Like I am. I had to unplug my DVD drive to fit more hard drives.
You can often find OEM RAID controllers on eBay for a fair price, but be prepared to do your research on which OEM model fits your specific needs. Hope you got a spare pci-E slot though, that's mandatory. Also if choosing OS-level RAID, then you'd only need a controller that's "beefy" enough to act as a s-ata to pci-express HBA. I'm pretty damn sure Windows still supports OS-level RAID 10 / 0+1 [editline]29th November 2016[/editline]
Then you should find flash drives even more amazing! [editline]28th November 2016[/editline] I mean you can literally buy a 128GB flash drive that's the size of your thumbnail for $32
Those are either slow as balls or gonna die prematurely. You often get what you pay for with flash memory.
Are 1TB SSD's still terribly expensive? I need more space on my computer, all the video games are taking up so much space.
I remember watching a video from Linus saying that the 8TB drives have bad write speeds?
Kind of. A 8TB Archive drive can push 180MB/s, but once it touches existing data it slows down a ton. Modify-Writes are slow since it has to read the existing data and then re-write it to the disk. But only Seagate does SMR, WD doesn't so theirs don't degrade in performance, but are also much more expensive.
I did something stupid.
First step is always admitting it...
I did something stupid.
WD2 is apparently pretty fun
I'm worried because someone was on Reddit saying "the performance is really good!", whilst he's using the option that cuts your resolution in half, and then upscales it. Doesn't tell me much. I have no idea how it's going to run.
Don't shoot the messenger? :v:
To be fair, that's maximum graphical settings. Not having launched the game yet, if the maximum settings are the 2016 version of Crysis, I'm pretty fine with that. I imagine I'll have to run at medium or something. [editline]29th November 2016[/editline] Played through the intro, didn't get into open world yet since it's still downloading. Had my graphics settings pretty high, and it was definitely dropping under 60, but the only reason I noticed it, was the FPS counter. Will have to tune when the rest of the game has downloaded.

[t]http://rp.braxnet.org/scr/148044124862922.png[/t] probably a super ridiculous question, but how would i mount this inside a box through a hole? glue? feels like i need a button on my ghetto rpi console
Solder it to a board?
oh is that the intended use? i want it to be a push button on the outside of the case :pudge: i'll continue searching
How were you planning on connecting it to your rpi? You could still do some leads to the board, solder it there, on the button, then glue the button to the case.

Disney bought back Laserdisc style packaging for DVD and Blu-ray releases. Looks really nice.
WhY can a phone play back a 4K video file, but a 100X stronger computer with an i7 can't? Just spent 1 hour trying to show a clip to someone, and had to fucking concede because now I'm just pissed off and nothing is funny anymore.

People underestimate how much of a difference hardware acceleration makes. My Atom tablet has no problems with 1080p60, with barely any CPU usage but it brings my 10 year old Core 2 Duo laptop to its knees. Even regular 1080p eats about 70-80 percent of the CPU because it has no H.264 acceleration at all.
The built-in windows photo app can play video smoother than anything else on my computer, and it's infuriating.
The built-in windows photo app can play video smoother than anything else on my computer, and it's infuriating.
Oh wow, I didn't even try that. Unlike VLC, MPC-HC and WMP, it can actually play back this H.265 4K video file :V I don't get anything about this
nah man, I'm sure my phone can play interlaced prores
Like H.264 is a dream, can to like 4k60 or even 8k easily on my computer. WMV, vp9, lol good luck.
Just finished installing a GTX 1080, a 1TB SSD as well as reinstalling Windows for a friend of mine, got 24x50cl of beer and the included Watch Dogs 2 coupon as a thanks, sehr nice
