A case for a external harddrive? Meaning a drive with a case already?
I'm confused.
Yes, I'm looking for a case for an external hard drive. What am I supposed to do, chuck it in my backpack and call it a day? What about the cables and such? I was thinking of getting a pelican case or similar and just cutting the inserts myself if I can't find something.
I'm aware. The point I'm making is that the majority of your price difference is the ability of having that much VRAM available on one card. Yes, you get better double performance, but that isn't going to add $5500 to the consumer version. If you're using it for it's designed purpose, you're going to likely use more than 12gb of VRAM. Double precision calculations or not.
Not really because it's best used for a GPU option in heavy CPU based renders, where DP is very nice.
If you're doing rendering or video production, you'll be better served by the consumer card unless you specifically need that much VRAM available. Even then, the computational side of things is not worth the difference in price. They aren't that different in performance.
Maybe not for you.
Quadro cards are intended to excel in CAD and scientific computing (OpenGL and CUDA), not necessarily for video production.
isn't that like against federal law?
Yes, yes it is. So is drug dealing, violating rental law, and sexual harassment, but that doesn't seem to stop him.

Well, the way you stop these people is by reporting them to the police.

The problem is it's on a ranch in the middle of nowhere and we can't get concrete enough proof. I'm just focusing on getting out of this shithole before things get worse.
Nah, bought it from a Swedish reseller
tablets (especially android) are that cheap now? last time i checked they were at least in the $500 range
World record? :v:

Fuck, thought I was bad at 60%.

Well damn. The Witcher 3 marks one of the first games I'm not to run at maximum settings @ 1080p and 60 FPS. I'm on high settings and get about 45-55 FPS outdoors and 60 indoors, still at 1080. Built this pc with the help of folks on FP two-ish years ago, back when I knew a lot less about computers.
That being said,

Hoo damn, 91c is the highest it's ever been, my PC fans actually turned up a notch I'd never even heard them go, ever. Surprised to hear it. Somebody said they might be because I was playing in borderless windowed mode, or whatever it's called, so I'll try regular fullscreen and see if that changes anything. I'm not even too sure of the borderless windowed mode's purpose, other than quicker alt-tabbing and the like.
tablets (especially android) are that cheap now? last time i checked they were at least in the $500 range
The Nvidia Shield is a very fast Android tablet for 2000 SEK, powerful x86-64 tablets can be very expensive, going up as high as like 25000 SEK (I.E top of the line Surface Pro). But there are budget variants of both x86 and ARM tablets starting at like 500SEK. Lidl and Ica sells tablets like that, for instance
The cheap tablets are so-and-so, unless they can be rooted (and optionally someone has whipped up a ROM that's more optimized than the factory one, the factory ROM's are often half-assed in some aspects on the cheaper ones)

Time to stop watching LTT
Its even worse for me owning Infinite.

Update, they fixed it

Thank fuck for that.

but I like the LTT memes.
[editline]16th September 2016[/editline]
Linus needs to make more videos almost destroying things with dremels. Not TechRax style, but doing silly mods to parts.
Call me crazy, but I would enjoy more general unboxing and product overviews.
I don't really like their reviews, especially Luke's. His are probably the worst, IMO.
Dennis Tech Tips when
I watch LTT because I think they're funny, not because I care about what they have to say, considering a lot of their conclusions turn out to be wrong and based on nothing but some rudimentary "test".
Also Linus is terrible at checking facts before spending time and money on dumb bullshit that doesn't work properly, which I find hilarious
BitWit or whatever he's called now is also pretty bad at fact checking. One of his "console killer" build videos has a lot of bad information in it.
I feel like the only tech channels that really know their stuff... is Techmoan or 8-bit Guy.
OMG, techmoan is the fucking best.
LGR is obviously great with retro gear as well but doesn't go into details. Just sort of mentions functionality.
I like Paul because he has cool dogs.
I watch LTT when I need cringe and also because it lets me know what people think is how things work. Today I watched the ridiculous alarm system prank which was one of the worst things yet. Also love the totally illegal video surveilance they have. I mean I dunno if the USA has ridiculously bad privacy/worker rights, but that shit would be seriously illegal anywhere around here. Not to mention that they film large parts of public property.
Just moved into my uni flat, was a bit sceptical of the Internet but I get 50/50 which is 👌👌

Are you not in one of the uni halls?

Guessing you get StudentCom? :)
uxwbill seems to know his stuff, though doesn't just do computers.
Are you not in one of the uni halls?
It's private halls, so pretty much the same
Guessing you get StudentCom? :)
Yeah
Bit worried about what it's gonna be like after everyone moves in tomorrow though

I really like Louis Rossmann, as well

Not sure where about you're at but I had studentcom 50/50 first year of uni and it was solid. Towards midnight/1am it dropped to like 40/50 with everyone watching Netflix but overall they were probably one of the more reliable providers i've had.
It's private halls, so pretty much the same

Yes and no.
Uni is a lot better with regards to deposits and stuff, private halls often try to charge you as much as possible, especially Unite afaik, so watch out for that.
In terms of internet (have to keep this roughly on topic :v:) all the uni halls are with JANET, which basically went up to 750mb/s or so at times.
