B!N4RY, for once you and I are both in agreement because the 3DFX crowd is for the most part insane. If you're gonna pay that much for a video card you should be buying something made this decade.
I'd love to have a V5 6000 for my retro gaming rig, but definitely not for the prices they currently go for. I mean I guess that's what you pay for a card that was never officially released and all.
E-Port II
You can't use both the DisplayPort and the DVI at the same time, can you? I know on the E-Port Plus, you can't.
You can't use both the DisplayPort and the DVI at the same time, can you? Both my monitors are DVI/VGA only so I've got one DVI and one VGA but I can't use the internal display (digital).
Using Google Drive on their web browser interface is annoying. Why can't I copy a document from one folder into another without first making a copy, then moving that copy into the folder that I want? I tried using something like ExpanDrive but I can only copy empty folders and not the documents themselves. I guess it is something that you can't do with Google Drive which is really dumb because I don't want "Copy of x" in the file name since that's extra work to fix. It's as if Google designed it to not act like a regular file browser that everyone else in the world is used to. And apparently zipping 10 pdfs where the total file size is under 5MB takes forever, it was effectively faster to just download the 10 pdfs one by one, then zipping them myself on my end. Oh and ExpanDrive was that nice piece of software that decided to try and upload a file from a hard drive that wasn't connected and effectively burn through my data cap and cause overage fees on my cell phone bill when I was tethering to my laptop. It ignores the "treat WiFi as metered connection" function in Windows 10 and likes to disconnect off Google Drive, so often that uploading via the web browser would be a better bet that this unstable pile of shit.

I use a 2tb wd black for bulk storage and a 256gb Samsung evo for my os and anything im actively playing.
Using a HD for storing games. in current year
Let me know when fitting this on an SSD isn't going to cost me $400 and I can't get 8x the HDD storage for 3/4 of the price. [t]https://helifreak.duckdns.org/image/20160919234456630.png[/t]
Using a HD for storing games. in current year
Probably half my 480gb SSD and a full 1tb HDD are used for games on my desktop. Also about 200gb of games on my 2tb in there too.

No sense in clearing out a bunch just for fun.

[t]https://helifreak.duckdns.org/image/20160920000858549.png[/t] I don't uninstall them unless I need space, that hasn't happened yet. The amount of filtering you need to do to get rid of the shitty SSHDs is mind boggling. [editline]20th September 2016[/editline] We can't even buy those mushkin reactors.

I'll just sit in the corner over here with my measly 1.2TB of storage [t]https://i.gyazo.com/82fad1ae5562744b7b5781a201e1e806.png[/t]
I've got roughly 10tb total.
I think I have something like ~16 TB of storage between all my PCs. More than I really need, but it doubled in the past year since 4 TB's are so cheap. Smallest drive I use regularly is my 360's stock 20 GB drive. Ironic because even my OG Xbox has an 80 GB. :v: Maybe the runner up being a 500 MB Quantum drive.
13.25TB. 14.25TB if servers in other continents count.
Using a HD for storing games. in current year
Yes, load times are so much faster when running them off an SSD but HHD are still the cheaper option for basically everyone.
Yes, load times are so much faster when running them off an SSD but HHD are still the cheaper option for basically everyone.
Most of the bulk stuff in games get cached to RAM after the initial load anyway in my experience. The first load sucks but everything afterwards isn't so bad. I'm not impatient. I grew up playing PS2 games. The only time I moved a game to the SSD was GTA V on my laptop because the mechancial drive was too slow on an already underspecced machine. :v:

[sp]plogbunch also CIPWTTKT[/sp] We had this lady at work that decided she needed 3 screens (2 + laptop display) after using two 900p ones for years and just getting 1080p screens. Probooks don't do that reliably so we got an elitebook with a dock. That had flickering/wake issues so we updated drivers and dock FW and everything was dandy, both screens using DP. Then the people who do the same job at another office wanted in on it too, they decided the 'old' ones with the i3-6100U were too slow and our elitebook with the i5-6200U was somehow way more capable than theirs. They also don't have on-staff IT there, just an "IT" guy (sophomore CS student) that doesn't report to the IT manager and doesn't have admin anywhere, basically a whippin boi. So after much whining from their manager, who CCed fucking everyone important on his disjointed rants for some ungodly reason, we sent them the kit, preloaded with the updates we used on the local one. We've always let them buy their own monitors, big mistake. I told the guy what to look for and he got seemingly good screens, but he apparently didn't get the cables and there were no DP cables in the boxes. Lo and behold they have indescribable video issues, "crashing" and saved work disappearing. They demanded even more expensive shit, meanwhile the IT manager has meetings over there and checks it out. Fucking VGA to DP adapters on all of them, but he never saw the video issue or crashing while there. We got them the right cables and upgraded memory cause they were using quite a bit, the issue stayed away for a bit and when it came back they blamed the memory and wanted new stuff yet again. Had their guy test the monitors on his machine....they're both junk. We sent them 2 new HP monitors and have not heard about that yet. After figuring out their workflow, the "crashing" was general freaking out from leaving two browsers, horrible customer software, google earth pro, 4 huge spreadsheets and probably countless PDFs open in and out of sleep mode, all docs opened from the server in MN and not their HDD 1k miles away. Saved work disappearing was dropping off the network with all that shit open so it saves locally, they see it saved and close then panic in the morning when they go to the server copy. They still don't use the laptop screen as a 3rd display.
Time to do the math, work out exactly how much.
96.5TB here never in my life have I been so disappointed with myself have another 4TB on the way already
do you need help?
Docking stations are the bane of my existence.
Ah docking stations. I've tried some of them. I want one that works seamlessly with the laptop but it doesn't always work out because something is broken about them. I tried using the Surface Book with the Surface Dock and I've often run into the issue of the screens not being detected. Not sure if this is my dual monitors faults since they are cheapo Asus TN panels, connected via miniDP to HDMI adapters. I even got the adapters from the Microsoft Store and that issue still happens. Unplugging and replugging the adapters a few times usually fixes it. Also devices connected to the dock might not always wake or connect properly. This is probably more Logitech's fault than anything, where restarting Logitech Gaming Software fixes it most of the time. Since the Surface Book has a 3000x2000 display, I run into scaling issues that I talked about a while back. Basically the DPI scaling is set to 200% so things aren't stupidly tiny on the Surface Book but once it gets docked to the 2x 1080p Asus monitors, some programs don't scale properly for the 1080p monitors. A lot of programs can detect the scaling setting but it they seem to only get the 200% scaling when it should be 100%. When I docked the Surface Book, I set the display on the Surface Book to turn off, and have one of the 1080p monitors as the main display. Windows should tell apps that the scaling is now 100%, not 200% right? Well, it doesn't seem to do that. Chrome seems smart enough to adjust scaling based on what display it is on. I really liked the single cable that handles data and power, which is also magnetic and easy to use. It made docking and undocking seamless and easy. I tried using the XPS 15 with Dell USB 3.0 Dock and I've run into the situation where the only way to wake your laptop is to open the screen up and press the power button or tap the keyboard. Although that's a minor thing that doesn't really matter too much. Sometimes the dock lags and when it lags, the screen lags and that's not useful in gaming. Another annoying issue is that on the second 1080p monitor, there was some artifacting going on. Some pixels would be solid green or red or blue. This seemed to be a GPU issue as it was viewable in screen recordings. Updating the drivers for the GPU and the dock did nothing. I wonder if the Dell Thunderbolt 3 dock would be any better. I think docking stations tend to be finicky and buggy. I've yet to experience a solid laptop to docking station experience. I am curious to try the HP Zbook Studio and the HP Thunderbolt 3 Dock. The connector is kinda proprietary because it's a 2-in-1 like the Surface and Surface Dock, where it's Thunderbolt 3 and charging/power in one cable. It's not magnetic but oh well. That's pretty neat and convenient because it's just one cable to plug and unplug instead of 2. Still better than plugging and unplugged like 5-6 different cables each time, which is such a hassle. I'd probably get two DP to HDMI adapters for it to work with my monitors, or be cheap and get one and use the VGA output on the dock.
The one docking station I haven't really ever had issues with is my old job with my W530 and one of their hefty docks.
I've got roughly 10tb total.
I have 2.4 TB through 2 1tb drives and a ssd. Currently i went through each drive and deleted everything and did a zero wipe because i had to write a paper about data and how easy it was to recover without successive deletions. turns out i forgot a large portion of my family photographs were on one of those drives, but i ended up having a backup on MEGA that i sent to my sister. [editline]20th September 2016[/editline] On another note i started playing runescape again but i had to stop because of the nostalgia of me and my dad playing when i didn't know he was a meth addict. I still don't know how to feel about it and he keeps wanting to get back into my life. He's currently unemployed and homeless. he won't tell me where he is and i kinda don't want to know.
