I want to get a Pi or another like microPC, but scared I'll need to know linux for it. :v:
linux is easier than you thinnk. just remember to run "sudo rm -rf /" periodically to clean up all junk in the system and makes it run faster
Linux is almost spelled like Linus so I avoid it in the fear it'll screech at me about a poorly named Razer product.
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linus, is in fact, Razer/Linus, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, Razer plus Linus. Linus is not a shitbox unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning Razer system made useful by the Razer Tartarus, Ouroboros and vital Chroma components comprising a full shitbox as defined by advertisers.
i could have sworn `rm -rf /` now refuses to work unless you really mean it
Just GNU's version which adds --no-preserve-root as a requirement for that. The BSDs' rm(1), not so much.
I miss living near Microcenters. I use to live by one in California and two when I was in Georgia. In Washington my only option if Frys and they're kind of gross.
I went to the one in Kansas City. My first reaction was "OH MY GOD. YOU CAN BUY REAL COMPUTER PARTS? LIKE IN A REAL LIFE STORE THAT ISN'T THE SIZE OF SMALL ROOM?". It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I literally spent 2 hours just looking at everything. I ended up buying a 4 port KVM switch because I needed one anyway. Its my souvenir. :v: Good thing it worked too. The nearest Micro Center is in Minneapolis, 4 hours away.

Will be really nice at work as I only have to drive 20 minutes to get to it and can generally find whatever semi obscure/specific part I need for a client and have it to them in about an hour. [editline]29th September 2016[/editline] The motherboard was refurbed too with additional off if you buy a proc with it. So the FM2+ ITX board with 2x2 AC Wireless ended up being $22.

It was DOA and had to wait almost 2 weeks for the replacement. If I had some place like microcenter nearby, it would have been solved within a day and the price was about the same. Newegg and Amazon are great, but sometimes I wished we had a brick and mortar store more in depth than the one Best Buy this side of the state.
That's what you get for living in what should be considered uninhabitable territory.
Why does nobody sell Instapak bags in packs of two? I had to ship something today and they were amazing but I can only seem to buy them in packs of 20 and the prices vary from $250-$300.
Why does nobody sell Instapak bags in packs of two?
They sell packs of 1, does that count? https://www.amazon.com/EcoBox-Inches-Instapak-Temperature-V-8888-1/dp/B00KAFU136/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1475129969&sr=8-6&keywords=instapak
Linus is an insult to Linus.
Had to have several stitches at 2am after waiting while bleeding for 3 hours. At the end of it I at least got out of classes. Moral of the story keep Ryan away from sharp objects.
1080ti looks beastly
According to the spec charts here, it's pretty much a Titan X on paper
$700 msrp More like $1k
but they wouldve broke it anyway :p
Yea but in the end I have no idea how UPS packed it. Also then I wouldn't have had to pay for them to pack it or insure it if it wasn't going to help. I wish I could have like just bought a box that was used to ship the R720. Would have been ideal.
$700 msrp More like $1k
Shiiiit... If they sold those for $700 a pop, I'd buy two. Fuck the SLI haters!
Wi-Fi access point just died. RIP.

I'll have about the cost of dual 1080Tis saved up by the time they're out.
The 1080 ti scares me a little. 1080's are already $1100-1200AUD ($850-900USD) here. That was about the price of the 980 ti at the time, if I recall correctly. So the ti is probably gonna be like $1500+.
I'm still waiting for the Vega ti
My HD7850 is starting to cry here when you talk about new GPU-s. My main goal right now is to get an SSD though.
I think a 1080 Ti would be a sizable upgrade from a 980 Ti. I'd consider it if my CPU wasn't holding me back so much.

Haven't kept up with GPUs in a long time.
naah seems okay for me actually, 1680x1050 in battlefield 1 was low-med, no aa. Got a few fps drops during smokes and high intensity battles but was entirely playable. The 1GB memory thing may be the worst thing about it currently.
Question: why do GPUs keep advancing at a proper Moore-y pace, but CPUs are so stagnant? Surely nvidia and AMD must be running into similar problems Intel and AMD were, right? How do they get over it?
The 1080ti is going to be either the same price as the 1080 when it released and the 1080 and 1070s will go down in price or we'll get aftermarket 1080ti's in the price range of the old titan X. As it stands right now the aftermarket 1080s are in the same price range as the 980ti's of last spring if not just a tad higher.
Was it any good at least?
It was like buying a VW Beetle and discovering it had a 700HP engine in it. It gave you what you expected and then some. But whether or not you think it's too much depends on the person and most people would say "let's take this down a few notches to a reasonable level". Also every youtube video hung for about two seconds before they even played, so it was a very heavy program.
