go look at what people now use as their primary computing device
When I bought my tablet, I didn't expect to actually use it for much. I mainly wanted something I could run my synth program on while at band practice, that was more portable than a 17" laptop.
Now, it's become my primary computer for personal use. I do spend more time on my work computer, but that's because I'm paid to sit at it for 40 hours a week. But I probably top 10 hours a week just watching Youtube videos on the tablet, which is more than I do with my other home computers.
(Granted, it's a Surface so it can do all the stuff tablets normally aren't able to do, but I honestly barely use those features. I only snap on the keyboard cover when I need to yell at some idiot on some forum, and it turns out Reason is horrible on a touch-oriented, HDPI device so I don't even use it for music much (will look into any suggestions anyone has for something better on a Windows tablet))
Whenever I hear the term "Post-PC", I can only attribute it to Apple's advertising of the iPad Pro and how it is the ultimate PC replacement.
Man
I like Apple a lot, but the iPad Pro is the most useless fucking thing.
RIP, my 1440p PLS overclockable korean monitor didn't survive the second cross country move in my trunk in less than a year. What 1440p IPS 144hz Freesync monitor should I get?

The iPad in general can do a lot a PC can do, but the iPad Pro is just a bigger iPad with some accessories and a pencil that doesn't have a fucking eraser.

Who needs an eraser when everything you do is perfect.

It's supposed to be a thing for pro tasks yet doesn't run an OS capable of doing any of that!
They thought they could build it and they would come with an aged platform that already has the scope of applications cut out by the dev community. Redic.
I wish large laptops just had an external PCI Express x8 slot or something

They seem to be doing the same sort of thing with Thunderbolt 3 instead.

The razer core could've been what people wanted for ages and legitimately changed laptop gaming if it were actually affordable by anyone

Alienware did put out a reasonably priced alternative (Alienware 15 starts at $1100 and a GPU extension around $160) on a non shit CPU though, people just don't buy that stuff on release because laptops are expensive enough already
By the time you want to upgrade the graphics on a laptop instead of just getting a better laptop is typically far past the support date of said laptop
Holy fuck, why is there no app for android that can export complete vcf files of only the local phone contacts. I don't want a vcf which is missing half the contact fields, and I also don't want a vcf containing every google account's contact the phone ahs ever seen.

I just really hope they don't give up. Once manufacturing costs go down and in a couple years when high bandwidth USB gets popularized enough for 8x/16x speeds, a little socket that only has a PCI slot on it, closes up, and has a male usb end to go in to the laptop could very easily be well adopted It doesn't need to be a laptop only product either -- maybe I want to hook up a graphics card to an Apple product for CUDA support, or hook up a GPU to an old prebuilt and at least get a little more performance out of it, however bottlenecked. I don't imagine PCI slots cost a lot to implement either so it could probably be a decent margin product without costing that much for the actual consumer.
USB will never be fast enough until it has direct access to the northbridge. That's why Thunderbolt is the better way to go as it rides off of the PCI-e signal on the northbridge.
Wouldn't USB-C still run off the southbridge in USB mode as opposed to Thunderbolt? Wiring would go to the northbridge but would the software pass the workload down?
Something about OS X is making me motion sick -- and I don't ever normally have a problem with that. The only time I've ever gotten motion sickness before was playing Tony Hawk while I was in a car driving down a mountain.
Good lord.

What precisely is a "nootropic" supposed to be and what is it supposed to accomplish that I can't already accomplish with an energy drink from the gas station?
USB-C Thunderbolt has the opportunity to be huge
I think Thunderbolt 3 is something that Windows can finally actually use properly. Thunderbolt 2 was dodgy since you couldn't just plug the device in without rebooting before use like it did in Mac OS X. Most Windows users probably just used the Thunderbolt 2 port on their computers as MiniDisplayPorts instead, or went through the hassle of rebooting to use some Thunderbolt 2 device (like a dock). A lot of the Thunderbolt 2 devices were heavily popular with Mac users and many professionals use it. It's a matter of time before those same devices work on Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C (like some things like portable external hard drives would do fine on USB-C since the read/write speeds probably won't get better with Thunderbolt 3, unless there's an SSD in there). I wonder when Apple is going to update their hardware to work with Thunderbolt 3. They seem to be taking their sweet ass time.
USB-C is already getting widespread on consumer devices. It's kind of a blessing and a curse that Thunderbolt 3 is also the same connector. It can get confusing like it did with miniDP/Thunderbolt 2 since they were the same connector.

Cognitive enhancement pills. A lot of it is snake oil, but some of them have (very minor) proven effects with improving your memory or overall brain function.
I used to be into them but after dumping $100/month in pills to no perceivable effect I said fuck it. They did introduce me to anxiolytic supplements that help me socially, but that's about the only tangible benefit I ever got out of anything tangentially related to nootropics.
This goddamn Oki dot matrix printer keeps going offline after it prints it's last sheet.
I do have to say though working on the "interface" on this things is oddly satisfying in it's simplicity even if it is a waste of paper.

There are three standards that share USB-C; USB, DP, and Thunderbolt. Hopefully manufacturers will keep their labeling up to par to not confuse the hell out of people.
My Asus UX310UA has a USB-C port which also handles DisplayPort, but not Thunderbolt 3.

They won't. USB-C will become as vague as m.2

USB already fucked up. USB > USB 2.0 > USB 3.0? Perfect progression. Then 3.1 and C came out at around the same time with similar features and toppled it all over.

For GPU's isn't it mainly latency not bandwidth?

No that's CPU's
No that's CPU's
In terms of the connection to the GPU though, not talking about Vram.
A GPU Over USB at 10gbps vs Thunderbolt at 10gbps.
Ah yes, you're correct, misunderstood. That's why anything south bridge is a no go but even PCIe 2.0 x16 holds up solidly when it's connected to NB
Speaking of which I should rant again on how Google cancelled the future of computing by killing HDMI out from android just as Type-C was released that would enable both USB host and *Native Displayport* at the same time
I doubt any of the SoC's would support that anyway (without additional IC's and hacky solutions).
Remember, the SoC manufacturers are also pandering to lowest common denominator.
