Nginx exploit in the wild.
http://nginxexploit.cf/
Versions 1.9.14 to 1.11.4 affected, that's all versions that should be in use.
From my understanding it allows the server to basically be used as part of a DDoS attack.
Thought I'd let you guys know.

ii nginx 1.11.4-1~xenial amd64 high performance web server

So you're using a proper WiFi AC adapter to connect to the router?
How do you people live? Cooking is fun.
Kitchens are still expensive and fun is not integral to living. Also there are other sources of fun :)
Still better than Apache.
It's quite a patchy web server. :v:
Almost all of the previous page confused me as to why the hell this is even in hardware and software

When you cook spaghetti, it turns from hardware into software.
[sp]oh god bad joke please spare me[/sp]
How did almost all of the previous page run on the subject of food ...
Nerds need food too

Ovens are hardware, right?
Can I RAID 5 a toaster
Ovens are hardware, right?
And where do you put busted GPUs? In the oven!
You give them to Linus
That reminds me that I gotta go through Langley so I gotta hang a few more cards off his door.
Ovens are hardware, right?
Pretty sure there's some "smart" ovens floating around by now.

Ugh. I have one you could call that. I hate it. It's so damn counter intuitive.

It looks fake as fuck, the scripts are "safe" to run (they won't kill your machine or allow remote access to it), but all the code is so bad and it doesn't contain the payload itself...
No sane person adverts an "nginx exploit" and release a zip file containing files that do the following without releasing the payload or any information relating to it...
Generate a list of completely random "IP addresses" (with no checks for if the addresses it generates are bogon addresses, link-local addresses or even valid at all) - which they call a "scanner".

literally a menu, with options to execute some commands that don't even exist in the zip file you download or on any linux system (example here being: poc)

executes menu and echoes some text

installs packages and runs installed

sends bytes to a list of IP addresses from a txt file you're supposed to have but don't get from the website because "The "PoD" exploit i discovered will remain private due to misuse of it"
These files are literally useless. I don't get why that website even exists if it doesn't give any information related to the exploit itself.
[editline]asdf[/editline]
Here's another one of his "exploits" i found... http://pastebin.com/sq6fR5x1
It echoes more useless text and literally executes wget 60 times against a target url with some basic parameters to wget.
This seems like the kind of guy who thinks "ping www.google.com -t -l 65500 -w 0.00001" is going to take down Google.

Did seem fishy but I thought I'd mention it none the less.

You can, but you need at least 3 slices of bread.

The nginx on Debian backports, is too old to have the exploit.
That's, nice, I guess.
Am I having a fucking stroke right now?

Whar rea oou alkting obaut!
Seriously, fuck Windows.
I tethered my phone to my laptop while I was on a ferry yesterday to check my email, and I got a 1.5GB data usage warning after 10 minutes of light browsing. Turns out this piece of shit OS was using the so called "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" to download updates I never consented to initiate over 4G network.
Now I have less than 500MB of data left to use for the next 3 weeks. Seriously, fuck you Microsoft
