What's your fps in Halo CE on that thing?
I remember getting a Evga 7800 GT CO SE and getting an amazing 750fps in the menu at 1024x768
The internet makes no fucking sense. Sometimes I want to stream whatever trash I'm playing at the time, apart from bitrate settings needing to be terrible it works. I can then watch the stream in VLC on the second monitor and it's all fine and dandy. My friend however, on the same ISP, even on the same plan from the same ISP a mere 2 minute walk away just gets constant freezing and corruption.
Am I allowed to post a sale thread? I'm looking to upgrade my main PC and want to sell my spare.
Am I allowed to post a sale thread? I'm looking to upgrade my main PC and want to sell my spare.
You'll probably have better luck posting it on your equivilant of Craigslist/Kijiji, or eBay. Unless it is RLY rare stuff inside of it, not many people will want to buy a full computer.
Am I allowed to post a sale thread? I'm looking to upgrade my main PC and want to sell my spare.
check out /r/hardwareswap or buildapc. some people might be interested in parting it out.
hah mine is bigger :smug:
But only 1920x1080, ew
But only 1920x1080, ew
Eh, I'm fine with that res since my PC is only for games and it doesn't have the best specs. Also I'm getting a 5k iMac for work once Apple does their refresh this month (I hope its this month). Been dealing with 25~30fps with pretty much everything on low at 800x600.
I gave up on selling my old gaming rig after having to deal with craigslist scammers and idiots once. Its just sitting in my room. Maybe i should figure out something cool to do with it.
I wish there was a solid USB3/3.1 multi-drive enclosure. I see these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817707367 And it looks solid, but i've heard such reliability issues for ALL Of them. Not just startechs. Instead of going with a rackmount option initially. I was thinking I'd get a lowpowered NUC, and like two of these and set it on the shelf and have that act as the server for now. But if the enclosure is going to corrupt the entire thing, then no point.
I was surprisingly lucky with my old gaming rig. Phenom ii x4 965: Bought for $90 years ago, sold for $70 recently Asus Vento 3600 (giant nose case): Sold for $20 GTX 560 Ti: Bought for $300, sold for $50 even though painfully outdated Motherboard that I can't remember the model of (DDR2, AM2+): $20 (I threw in the RAM and heatsink with the other purchases) Now I'm rocking a 6600k and a GTX 1070 with a 250GB SSD, 1 TB Caviar Black, 16 GB DDR4, and a TV tuner card for a net cost of $840 and I'm super happy

Man W10 really doesn't like this ATI 3450 [editline]12th October 2016[/editline]
Am I allowed to post a sale thread? I swear this hipster push for people to build or buy old 486's and P1 machines for "DOS retrocomputing and gaming" is bringing out some of the most deep pocketed and retarded people I've ever seen outside of the Mac world.
Is there any video cards newer/better than a matrox g450, voodoo 3 etc are that will still work under dos 7? How do the Zotec cards stack up?

What are you planning to use under DOS 7 that needs a better video card?

I have a 486 and pentium 1 (without agp). I have falcon 3 , hornet and 4 I want to push to max resolution. I recall running falcon 3 from dos.
... Okay, so first, neither game supports the accelerated video modes of any card made in the last 25 years. At worst you need a card that supports VESA modes and EVERY VGA CARD IN EXISTANCE supports that. Second, fucking Falcon's minimum requirement is a goddamn 286. The rig you built is going to make the game scream anyways. I've also twice this week had to tell people to shut up because they said that CR2032 batteries will explode and catch fire like the Note 7 if improperly stored or thrown out and tell another person after he fried a 387 that the chip is keyed and he shouldn't of had to force it into the socket. One other guy was trying to make a DVD burner work under DOS on a 486.
Where did you sell your stuff? I have an old 955/AM3 mobo/8gb DDR3 to get rid of.
eBay for the GPU, Craigslist for everything else. It's all about presentation though. Treat whatever you're selling like an art piece. It gets more attention that way. I've sold Walmart guitars for more than it's Walmart price by doing this (not intentionally, my sister told me how much it was actually worth at Walmart after the sale). Yeah that was a typo.

My personal anecdote I took some nice pictures of my motorcycle when I put it up on Craigslist. Cleaned it up, got out my DSLR, and got good, clear pictures of every angle. My father thought it was overkill and my cell phone was enough. 2 days later it had a new owner. The bike wasn't anything special or cheap (it was a V-Star 650, not a very uncommon bike), but it got attention. It astounds me that people take 2 blurry, poorly framed, poorly exposed photos of their stuff, and wonder why it sits for weeks. You don't need to be a pro, just put some effort in.
It astounds me that people take 2 blurry, poorly framed, poorly exposed photos of their stuff, and wonder why it sits for weeks. You don't need to be a pro, just put some effort in.
Can confirm, I've flipped 2 cars for a small profit that I bought for use as DD beaters, and when I wanted to get rid of then because I didn't need it anymore, I shined them up a little and took some nice pictures and wrote a good (but honest) description. I even abused the shit out of one of them (before quickly cleaning it) and only expected to get half the price I asked for, yet I did get what I asked for. It's all about presentation and first impression.
4 deep in RDP inception right now, help.
4 deep in RDP inception right now, help.
My company's CEO bought another company and their IT bailed. Their servers are actually only one server, 8 separate VMs all doing different things all of which you RDP into from the AD DC instance. Which I RDP into from my computer because we're 4 hours away. Shit is wack
What if you RDP into your computer from a VM running inside said computer? Think about that.
When I was doing a systems administration class at uni I had two VMs running and just SSHed between them rather than swap windows. Sometimes I forgot and ended up with an SSH tunnel going from VM 1 to VM 2 and back to VM 1. Which then launched a GUI over X11 forwarding. It was a fucking mess to be honest. Then I set up an SSH server in Windows in case I needed to do something there without leaving the VM. Single command to tar important shit over SSH that immediately gets uploaded to MEGA on the host PC was so convenient.
So I bought a thing for $25. [t]http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2013/01/cooler-master-seidon-120m-review/seidon120m-5b.jpg[/t] I didn't realize until I got home that I didn't get the other half of the mounting bracket. :suicide:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Gnp5721.png[/t] Anyone know why the the bottom two SSDs are getting toasty? They aren't doing anything.
Are they close to something that's really toasty in your case? [editline]13th October 2016[/editline] Also hey y'all party people. I went and changed my monitor's output range in the Nvidia settings to full (per this one reddit post), and I'm suddenly seeing some serious banding on posts here on Facepunch, in the gray gradients on the left, and the yellow gradient on my own posts is less of a gradient and more of a cutoff now. Is Facepunch just ugly, or is something up?
does patching a game to support CPU's that don't have SSE 4.1 support take a lot of work like a rewrite or is it just small adjustments or is it dependent on how much SSE 4.1 is utilized?
So tempted to go and make an offer on these, I think there already being sold at a pretty good price, if it was a A600 wouldn't even think about it because there's s FPGA accelerator available that's fast as fuck [t]http://i.imgur.com/OV56JLZ.jpg[/t]

You won't just be running a simple patch.
You're probably better off rewriting the entire game.
Are they close to something that's really toasty in your case?
Nope. And they're right behind a 200mm intake fan.
