I have an LG 29" ultrawide, almost nothing supports it properly. Most games will run at 2560x1080, some have to run 1080p with black boxes on either side (FUCK YOU BLIZZARD) Most issues come up with game UIs and menus, and video content since it's all 16:9. Some game UIs just anchor shit to corners rather than arbitrary points which is a good compromise.
And many games just kind of support 21:9. Like the main game itself is fine but scopes only render in 16:9 and you can see everything going on at the sides Looking at you, Planetside 2.
Games should always dynamically scale based on resolution regardless of width vs height. Design your game properly and scale on both, assholes. This applies to UI and rendering.
I bought an AMD SSD. Will take pics of it next to my Intel SSD.
I bought an AMD SSD. Will take pics of it next to my Intel SSD.
TIL AMD makes SSDs
TIL AMD makes SSDs
Pretty sure they're just rebranded corsairs.
aren't there only like 3 manufacturers of flash memory or something to begin with?
I wish 512gb SSD's were cheaper. I could totally go for a few of those.
I wish 512gb SSD's were cheaper. I could totally go for a few of those.
They are $185 in Australia, that means Canada is probably around $150 and the US would be about $90.
Why is this 2 minute video so fucking bi...
Video: RGB24 256x256 60fps 94383kbps [V: rawvideo, bgr24, 256x256, 94383 kb/s] Audio: PCM 44100Hz stereo 1411kbps [A: pcm_s16le, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, s16, 1411 kb/s]
Oh. Video also only uses the middle 144 rows so it's actually got 39 mbps of premium black bars. [editline]22nd October 2016[/editline] That audio? Completely silent.

Fucking Wal-Mart.
I swear my next card is Nvidia, I'm fucking done with Plays.tv Edit: or I might have to give up on having (really useful) VODs of my gameplay. I hate this shit.
I swear my next card is Nvidia, I'm fucking done with Plays.tv Edit: or I might have to give up on having (really useful) VODs of my gameplay.
I wish 512gb SSD's were cheaper. I don't think I will see them <£75 for a long old time though, especially with the currency in the shitter (Well done UK).
I just bought an AMD card and yeah Plays.TV is pretty bad... You'll know you just lost some footage when you go to right-click the tray icon and absolutely fucking nothing happens.
couldn't be fucked grabbing new sources so i just went into the old sources i had and incremented the version number. am i doing it right?
Because you can hotplug SATA, I'm waiting for the day SSD's can be stored in jukeboxes like they were tapes.
I can't wait for 10tb SSD's in a 6 slot jukebox.
I wish 512gb SSD's were cheaper. I could totally go for a few of those.
I just came from a film shoot and holy shit was transfering the hundreds of GB of footage off the CFAST 2.0 cards slow when it went to external hard drives which tend to cap at around 100MB/s sequential write speed. I copied it to my laptops SSD to check it out and it went to 330MB/s. If we wanted speed for offloading footage, I'd record directly to SSDs instead. Also I got to use the ARRI Alexa Mini today, that was fun.
Also I got to use the ARRI Alexa Mini today, that was fun.
I wish I could use fun toys like that. Whenever I do shoots I'm either using my SLR or my friend's BMCC. I'd imagine you were shooting in RAW+ridiculous resolution?

Didn't pick LT because I don't think they had anything to edit it with properly without making proxies, etc. I usually get to film stuff with DSLRs so this is a nice change. The rig overall was 20lb tho, with wireless follow focus, video transmitter, battery, body, lens, shoulder rig, all the good stuff.
Finally, I can legally drink as of a few hours ago.

Nice, meanwhile I scored a free Thinkpad x201 with a docking station. [t]http://i.imgur.com/AB5eBru.jpg[/t] Stuff I'll do first: take it apart and clean it inside out Stuff I need to do to get it to work: get a power charger, install a hard drive or SSD, install an operating system Stuff I would get later: get a replacement nip, get an SSD (probably 120GB) and run the OS off it to make it usable in today's standards, Expresscard to USB 3 since all of the USB ports are slow 2.0 ones, get a new battery if the current one sucks, get the pen somewhere
Finally, I can legally drink as of a few hours ago.
I love how I can drink anywhere in Europe but when I would go to the USA, everything I would do would be illegal as fuck.
Let us know how your first pukefest goes
I just want to sip my limoncello, nothing extreme
Every few months I'll enable ads just to remind myself that they're fucking scum and I'm doing the world a favor by installing adblockers on any computer I use for more than half an hour. First ad I see today, "Your computer is infected! click here to download antivirus!".
Nice, meanwhile I scored a free Thinkpad x201 with a docking station. I've had my eye on one of the thinkpad tablets for a while now.
RIP rear case fan 2011-2016, went out in a blaze of loud as fuck noises and sub 100 RPM action. You will be missed. Only started making occasional quiet noises this morning, what a champ always thinking about others. Now there's just a space where there used to be blue lights refracted on a faint disk, brings a tear to my eye. [editline]24th October 2016[/editline] Drinking cask wine out of a cup in memoriam.
