What you posted on the previous page
It's a png render of Molotov's splash screen design...
New Links .xpm with fixed logo Original .xcf (Gimp project file) NOTE: Merge stripes and background layers, as color conversion does not like transparent layers.
Not an svg and only black but: http://filesmelt.com/Imagehosting/pics/610dfa33288ca1131433463f6c9557c2.png There was a 600px one somewhere but i can't seem to find it anymore.
That should be enough. It does not have a transparent background, but downscaling the size should eliminate any artifacts that the white removal produces. Thanks!
So are there an particular things that you need making? I guess my splash idea was a bit naff ; ) [editline]11:48PM[/editline] pop pop
What about copyright issues? I'm sure Garry has Facepunch, Facepunchstudios, and any variation copyrighted. Shouldn't someone ask him if we can use his copyrighted name? Since nobody is making any profit off it, I'm sure he wouldn't care.
Eh, fuck, I just missed the boat, didn't I.
Actually, no. No one has boarded the usplash boat, yet.
If anyone is up for it - make me a DECENT grub splash image (.xpm) and boot screen for usplash. Half the monkeys ITT wont have a clue what im on about.
Oh, well, doesn't usplash refresh at 25 FPS (wait, that's just the case for Ubuntu's progress bar) ? I'll go for 800 by 600 , then.
Oh, well, doesn't usplash refresh at 25 FPS? I'll go for 800 by 600 , then.
Isn't it limited to 640 x 480? Or am I just making that up?
By the way, here's the FP logo in PDF format that I ran through Vector Magic with. http://www.mediafire.com/file/ywzenzmnytz/clipboard1.pdf [editline]11:49AM[/editline] Here you go, I hacked up a little placeholder. From what I've read any animation is hard-coded in, so I'll leave it up to birkett and the rest to decide - for now, though, here's space for a progress bar and some scrawl. (where's all the dithering and blocky gradients gone? Bizarre...) (http://www.mediafire.com/file/rzltidmn2ww/Untitled-1.psd ...you'll need the Aller font, though)
Not neutral enough IMO. Also, gradients + 14 colors = uhoh
Well, I'm assuming it'll display black by default (although I'm guessing this is controlled programatically too) - but don't we get 256 colors, though? I'm pretty sure base VESA support gives us that. 14 colors (in CGA text mode? eh) seems quite an odd number. I exported this in 256 colors with a custom palette, although we'll see. [editline]12:58PM[/editline] 256 colors in OS X's palette, just to test it:
Looks really nice to me.
It's nowhere near complete, I'll need to see what can be done, though.
Bionic Apple - Looks good. Hubman - Really liking that boot splash. Loose the text though. Try to keep it to 640x640, 256 colours - with black blended borders. I'll center it on screen at higher res.

the above is the best one yet
That's actually quite nice, apart from the bizarre blur around the Facepunch logo. [editline]04:32PM[/editline] A bit of (mindless) wishful thinking, I sort of went overboard on this iteration. I might segment the scroller so we can have a progress bar(if Photoshop doesn't flip out on me, I suppose), but I'll just keep it like this right now. Same.

Best one so far.
Note to self - kicking minions up the arse makes them work better. Im sold on Extrems grub splash. Tempting to commit that to the installer image tonight, and use that for the first release. That certainly doesn't mean others can't be working on improvments.
I could help. :)
Damn, look what happens when I am gone.
What?
Nevermind. Here's a Usplash mockup: .xcf file I have no clue what Usplash can do and what it requires, so forgive me if there are some elements which are not possible.
Are the menu bars in linux coded or done with an image file? I imagine they are coded but just wondering.
Are the menu bars in linux coded or done with an image file? I imagine they are coded but just wondering.
Usually coded. I'm sure if you looked hard enough you could find some ancient shitty wm that uses image files.
Are the menu bars in linux coded or done with an image file? I imagine they are coded but just wondering.
Coded, but handled by the overall system theme. GTK themes for example. Other window managers such as *box use their own .rc which is easilly edited. You can usually set background images for the menu bars.
Nevermind. Too much round and candy.
You could make it fit in with the boot screen. Remember, this is just a suggestion, I don't expect you to use this. [editline]11:40AM[/editline] Something similar. [editline]11:40AM[/editline] I was copying the Grub screen from memory.
