Well, a lot of people seem to want to create the website. I'll host the whole thing.
Why don't all of you people who are working on a website show me what you've got through PM and I'll look at it. We might as well just use wordpress with a custom theme if anyone's good at making WP themes.
We don't really need a blog though. If you're up for it, code up a nice clean comments + news system. It doesn't have to be anything fancy.

Wordpress does exactly that.

WP really grew out of only being a blog software a while ago. You can surely call it a complete CMS at this point.
Is Cosmic Duck still involved in this or what?
If not, how do we decide who's actually hosting?
We'll just take him by his word. Alternatively, i've sure got some space left.

I can host too. :banjo: It'd be easier for me if I am gonna keep working on this (since I can manage everything else), but meh. Size isn't a problem either.
Well if anyone else wants to be the web leader sure.
Since you guys want to do all things anyway. If you guys host and you guys make the website where do I come in as web leader? That's why I said I'll host.
I'm willing to do that if I'm trusted. :cop:
Y'could mirror it? I'm sure there's something you can help with.
I dare say you've been usurped Denzo
Should be getting a dedicated server sometime soon (within a few days) so if you guys need a mirror or some hosting space give me a PM - I can give you unrestricted hosting for free (on the condition that I get to stick a single unintrusive adbrite ad on each page somewhere ;p). I have a 2Tb/month bandwidth limit, and 100mbps uplink, and I can use it as a seedbox for torrents (thinking of .iso images etc.).
Finally got around to working on the Steam Installer, and I put it up on GitHub.

1) You're asuming Wine is already installed
2) Drop the steam files in ~/.wine/drive_c/ not a steam directory created on execution. What if i execute the script from /proc/?
3) ~/ instead of /home/foo/
4) xterm front end? Something like what synaptic PM does when updating.

Well if you check the README file it says wine is listed as a dependency, so I assume that when he's made his project into a .deb the .deb would check if wine was installed.

Took care of 2 and 3 since they were easy. :v:
For 4 I guess I'd have to use an xterm frontend to display download progress at least. Unless I can find a python module for wget that can return download status. However I think the subprocess module can read from stdout and I might be able to figure out the download status from there and use a progress bar.
I'll probably test out reading stdout when I do number 1; looking for "command not found" I'll check for cabextract too.

Yes. Some good examples are at reviewthisstuff.com I'll save you the hassle:

Yes, it is selling merchandise, but the thing I mean to showcase here is WP's ability to be an actual website and more than just a blog.
How's things going?
Sorry I've been a bit inactive, I just finished my exams and have only got back to doing web-stuff.
I've spent a lot of time trying to get the background to work, but as of now I'm disabling it until I can get it to work correctly.
Template
Not exactly like the PS, but I think it's okay for now. If anyone can see the problem with the background (it aligns too low) feel free to tell me. I've kept the settings stored on a div on the stylesheet.
Tell me if you want to start adding content.
As it turns out, I am a lot more busy than I thought I would be.
So, I encourage people to take a crack at the installer artwork themselves if they can. Well, that is assuming they can find the original Debian art, which I still haven't done.
Also, Ibutsu, that looks pretty good. I would suggest putting some borders around some of the content and playing with the colors and design in the header. Both would provide nice contrast, as the header currently blends into itself. Also, perhaps try to put a Google Apps-like style onto the top menu. It is a nice and simple.

The mouse is hovering over Advanced Tools.
I'll try on the artwork. Don't expect me to get it to work myself. I can just toy and suggest palletes.

So wait, what issue are you having? The top part is a few pixels too low?
So wait, what issue are you having? The top part is a few pixels too low?
Doesn't matter anymore. I completely removed it a few hours ago when I added that border.
Oh god, I need to catch up. Searching through the thread for things to do.
[editline]10:17AM[/editline]
I think I'll get to work on the GRUB splash, it seems unoccupied on the front page.
[editline]11:30AM[/editline]
Va? I shooped the foreground text on because I don't have an installation as it is.

^Hot. Sum capitalization on the slogan would be nice but it's not that important really.
That splash is looking awesome.
