There's no denying that the iPhone is a great bit of kit. I for one love it's simplicity, it's vast range of apps, great games and the camera is very good despite only being 5MP. You shouldn't cut it out completely.
Android is a great competitor but I don't have a lot of experience using Android phones.
Steer clear of Windows Mobile really - I had a Windows Mobile HTC Touch 2, and it was terrible to be honest. Always locking up, bad functionality, over complicated and not a great deal of support. WM7 looks good but don't expect that for a while.
Obviously Facepunch being Facepunch is bias against anything Apple. And fair play, a lot of Apple owners are pretentious dicks who buy Apply because it's more expensive and fashionable. Their products are still great however, and the iPhone is no exception.
DO NOT BUY TOUCH NOKIAS!
They have a shitty software that is pulling them back. HTC but only with android. HTC Legend is very good.
Or Iphone, It's really a good thing.
Why would you want to run firefox on a phone? Wouldn't you rather use a browser with an interface designed to take up as little space as possible?
You can either compile the full Firefox from source, or you can install the portable Firefox made specifically for the N900.
Actually, about that. I was at a massive LAN that also has some other shit in there. I went to the Nokia stand, they had some N900's there you could use. Never had used one before. I opened the web browser, remembered Firefox for N900, googled and installed and a minute later I was browsing with that instead.
The N900 isn't really that great compared to today's standards.
TV-Out? Droid X, HTC EVO 4G and the Samsung Galaxy S all have that.
Need a keyboard? Buy a Samsung Epic 4G.
Linux? Android IS Linux.
Flash? Android 2.2 has Flash.
Overclocking? Most Android phones can be overclocked.
Firefox? Theres something called Fennec which is a mobile version, designed not to take up half the screen and come with useless crap.
PS1 Emulator? Android has that, with full support for Bluetooth controllers.
TV-out is pretty standard nowadays.
Android is Linux at the base with a bunch of Java crap plastered on top.
Flash, durr, standard except for retarded developers.
Overclocking, durr, pretty standard for developers to allow.
Firefox, you can compile the full thing from source or use the mobile version (Firefox for N900)
PS1 emulator is pretty useless anyways.

Aye, they use Symbian S60v5 on about every single fucking touch phone they make, except for the N900. N900 runs Maemo.

Yeah because you NEED a full firefox build on your phone.
And you just like counter-argued against yourself by agreeing with some of my points.
Also I can run full Linux on my Samsung Galaxy S including Debian and Ubuntu.

How could you even use Firefox on a phone? I'm always fighting with it just to work on my PC let alone on a phone. Plus the interface is way balls. I guess beta 4 improves on that (a bit) though.
The bias of this thread is hilarious.
As with anything I support, I do try out a lot of products before I buy them.
I have been more satisfied with what I have bought than what I have tried with an iPhone. It does what I want it to do, and there's nothings that's ever restricted. iPhone can never promise that, and that is why I personally don't recommend it. I feel that it deserves the money I paid for it.
Next?
I fucking hate macs, I hate apples smug, but I like the iPhone 4. But I'd get an Android phone since theres no jailbreak for the latest iPhone software. The Samsung Captivate seems like a pretty good phone.
As an Evo owner, don't get the evo. it's a terribly slow and overvolted phone stock, and the GPU sucks.
Get the Epic, that's what I'm doing.

Smart man right here.

Maemo/MeeGo is much more similar to a normal desktop linux distribution though. Android just uses the Linux kernel. Yes, you can "run" Debian/Ubuntu in a chroot on top of Android, but Maemo/MeeGo IS Debian.
(Yes, I know, MeeGo isn't really Debian-based, but the phrase fits.)
I thought the iPhone had the best? It's got a great one fo sho'
iphone has a shit camera as far as detail and clarity goes, it's goodish and sort of low light situations because it has a decent light sensor.
really though if you buy any phone because of it's camera you're retarded. unless it's a shitty camera like 1.3mp or something like that but these days 5mp is pretty much the standard and will do just fine. if you need a camera, buy a camera, not a phone.

I find it funny how the Iphone is only 5MP with 720p, and its above the Droid X with 720p and 8MP. Also the colours on the Iphone 4's camera are usually poor.
