bullshit ipod touch 2g cant have multitasking or change your back picture :argh:
Welcome to several months ago.
Welcome to several months ago.
i know. but this is was suppose to be give us that but no they only put it for 3g ipod touches. basterds.
iPod Touch 3G can't be jailbroken atm. Just wait for a new Jailbreak for 4.0 that's universal, like Limera1n/Spirit 2.0 or something.
i know. but this is was suppose to be give us that but no they only put it for 3g ipod touches. basterds.
Do the backgrounds and multi-tasking work on 8g 3g iPod Touch? If it doesn't, any chance of jailbreaking solving that?
i know. but this is was suppose to be give us that but no they only put it for 3g ipod touches. basterds.
Oh my fucking god, that's what I meant with "Welcome to several months ago". They NEVER said the 3G would be getting those features. God you're retarded. (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - Mr. Gestapo))

he joined 8 hours ago  flaming isn't going to help you look "cool" anyway, since someone said it is a downgrade from jailbreak, why? I don't have an iphone so I don't really know.. Certain features missing or what?
he joined 8 hours ago  flaming isn't going to help you look "cool"
Lurked since early 09. And if I wanted to flame I'd be a lot more harsh.

I don't have an iphone so I don't really know.. Certain features missing or what?
He's probably an alt, judging by how active he's been in the 8 hours. The downgrade was said because at the minute it's really not worth upgrading if you've got a jailbroke iphone. All the main features on iOS 4 are also available by jailbreaking on older firmwares. So, if we already have those features, and more with a jailbreak then it's a downgrade until iOS 4 is also jailbroken.
Hang on, Spirit JailBreaks 4.0, RIGHT!?
no
no
Oh, Okay then.
http://rapidshare.com/files/400112977/redsn0w_win_0.9.5b5-1.zip
Can anyone confirm this is legit?
Just asking, but if I upgrade my iPod touch, which is jailbroken, and jailbreak the new software, will I still have all my Cydia themes and apps?
Can anyone confirm this is legit?
Legit?
Just asking, but if I upgrade my iPod touch, which is jailbroken, and jailbreak the new software, will I still have all my Cydia themes and apps?
i dont think so. since it deletes the jailbreak when it upgrades then reapplying the jailbreak i think you have to get all over again. but im not an expert theres probably a better answer out there.
You need an IPSW to jailbreak with redsn0w. Anyone knows what IPSW is it?
Is anyone's preupdate backup taking forever??
Is anyone's preupdate backup taking forever??
my started to take foooorever then it went really fast.
Is anyone's preupdate backup taking forever??
There are a number of reasons this happens and I don't care to go into them at the moment. However, you should know that, if you're still not done with the process, you can just click the x symbol to the right of the 'backing up' text. It will cancel only the current process, meaning that the backup will quit and the overall process will continue. Also, it should be noted that using the backup feature is overall not recommended, so you might want to exit it where ever possible, especially if you jailbreak. Always set your device up as a new device, never restore from a backup. The reason for this is that the backup process more often than not can create issues where there were none. It is always best for compatibility, performance, and reliability to start your device fresh, by always restoring (NOT updating) to the latest firmware, and setting up as a new device (never from backup). Without going into too much detail, this is important to jailbreakers because jailbreaking changes numerous things on your device, things which iTunes backs up, and applying this past data to a new installation can be problematic. Even for people who do not jailbreak, applying old data a new OS can potentially be problematic, so again, it is advised that you restore, not update, and never restore from backup.
This is the most up to date Redsn0w jailbreak I could find. It works for iPod Touch 2G but only if it isn't the MC model. http://www.ithinkdiff.com/jailbreak-ios-4-on-ipod-touch-2g-guide-85122/
I want 4.0 on my 8GB iPod Touch 1G. Will installing the 2G firmware let me do this? Because I can't find the firmware for my model.
I want 4.0 on my 8GB iPod Touch 1G. Will installing the 2G firmware let me do this? Because I can't find the firmware for my model.
this is from apple.com i dont think it supports 1g. http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/ios4-software-update.html
this is from apple.com i dont think it supports 1g. http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/ios4-software-update.html
That's pretty shitty to do to people, especially early adopters. Big fail for apple.
That's pretty shitty to do to people, especially early adopters. Big fail for apple.
Not really, they're doing as any other company would. They can't support old models forever. [editline]06:24AM[/editline] I think I'm going to just upgrade and wait for the jailbreak for 3GS. Most of the stuff I want I'll still have. [editline]06:46AM[/editline] Could have knew this wouldn't have went smoothly. iTunes spitting an error 13 at me and now my iPhone is a paperweight at the minute.
gah this is pretty sad. i upgrade my itouch to this 4.0 software. huzzah, i can make folders, and edit playlists, and.. yeah. folders and playlists. i tried to multitask, but i can't. this feels like a big disappointment for me. anyone know why i'd have other features but not multitasking?
Just to clarify: The 8gig Third Gen is considered a 2008 Second Gen. If you have this model, you CANNOT use Multitasking without JBing. That is all.
dagnabit. looks like i'm getting a new itouch then.
iOS 4 is awesome on the 3GS, multitasking is fantastic. I'm also really impressed with iBooks for iPhone.
