I'll say it again. If you have a 32GB / 64GB 2009 iPod touch 3rd Gen, you can use backgrounds / multitasking. Anything other than that can not without being jailbroken.

To all the people who restored to go from GM to final: you know you guys could have just shift-clicked on "Check for updates" and select a 4.0 ispw, right?
Yeah, if you want the final version, which is essentially the GM but withou the fancy name and Game Center Beta. I reverted back to the GM so I could jailbreak.
Im going to wait for the 4.0 redsnow jailbreak Gets updated and all the cydia apps switch to os4 friendly. (the os4 jailbreak right now is mostly for devs updating cydia apps to get ready for os4) i got a 8gb ipod touch 3.1.3 jailbroken ;)
What There is a Redsn0w jailbreak, and it works flawlessly.
Not for 3GS it doesn't.

Fuck, I only have 2g. [editline]02:58PM[/editline] I'm no rocket surgeon, can someone inform me as to how I would get the new features?
I want to buy a 3GS brand new, because my 2G refuses to do anything, wifi is shit on it, and apps barely work.
Is there jailbreak for 3rd gen yet I miss having infiniboard and Installous :saddowns:
Well, no need for infiniboard now. Just drag and drop icons onto each other and group them. But I do miss installous and a few other apps. So far nothing though (Jailbreak).
Is anyone having issues where the internet won't work? I have full bars with 3G and it still times out when connecting to any website or using any network app.

IOS 4 jaibreak for Spirit users with old bootroom Requirements: 3GS iPhone with Old iBoot This file spirit2pwn_r1.zip( http://code.google.com/p/iphone-img3-flasher/downloads/list ) STEPS: 1. Now go to the directory where you saved the custom firmware 3.1.3 and change the extension. IPSW to. ZIP and unzip the file you just created. Run on the iPhone Mobile Terminal and type these commands: su root Alpine (your password) cd / tmp chmod 755 pwn_old_boot_r2.sh ./pwn_old_boot_r2.sh When the process really SUCCEED. Restart your iPhone. You can now restore the custom firmware with PwnageTool 4.0 or Sn0wBreeze created earlier. This worked for me.

Hot damn, that worked for me too! Thank you very much for posting this. May many positive ratings find their way to you. [editline]03:02AM[/editline] Using the custom firmware before, usually it stopped when the iPhone showed the Connect to iTunes logo. I had such a huge grin on my face when it showed a pineapple instead.
