• Using a PS3 on a VGA moniter?

Amazon has a PS3 VGA cable. its $35 but it also works with the Wii. Only problem is it won't do your monitors resolution except for 480p. If you can find a 17" CRT it would work, those tend to be able to 1280x1024 so you can do 1280x720 on them fine. TLDR; with your current monitor it is not possible to use a resolution above 480p. Go onto craigslist and get one of the free crts people give away, worst case is you get a 19" that will do 720p just fine for $20.
Just buy this, HDFury To display any form of HD content off a PS3 you will need to have an HDCP compliant monitor with a 720p or above resolution. Either that or the HDFury. If you try and run the PS3 through a non HDCP compliant device you will get nothing but a black screen. No array of cables and converters will solve your issues.
well i have a moniter capable of a max of 1280x1024, but i'd prefer to keep that for my pc and use the 1024x768 one for the ps3, and 480p doesn't bother me much...

no, you're wrong the ps3 will not output through the HDMI port unless the display is HDCP compliant, you just get a black screen on startup
My TV isn't HDCP compliant, and I can watch Blu-ray movies just fine with my PS3.
My TV isn't HDCP compliant, and I can watch Blu-ray movies just fine with my PS3.
Though HDMI at 720p or above? Because HDMI to a non HDCP compliant device running 720p or 1080p isn't going to happen by design.
My setup's pretty nice, saves for having tons of cables running out of the PS3. Perfect monitor for the job, if a little big.
Rated Autistic.
