Yes but at the same time no. I'd love to have an iMac and it's a good improvement over the mini, far and wide, but 21" is too small and 27" is too big. Also the thing is barely upgrade-able. I'd sooner get a Pro or pull apart a mini and spec that out as best I could if I was doing pro work.
What do you do now?
Editing. My own videos now, if I can get "pretty good" and freelance isn't child labor (I'm not 16 yet) I'd do some editing on the side. Want to upgrade my RAM soon. Going to go from 4 to 16, should be an improvement :V
So, seeing as the iPod classic is gimped on volume here in the UK, would importing one from America mean it wouldn't have the volume restriction? just wondering because this iPod touch aint gonna last forever
or is there some way to trick a UK classic ect
I think the US and UK firmwares are interchangeable A.K.A, install US firmware on it and you'll have no restrictions.

If somebody were to tell me how it would probably solve a billion of my problems right now trying to select a new iPod :v:
What's good or bad about maverick?

The memory compression is basically non existent if you're on 4gb.
The dualscreen support is way nicer, I usually use a second monitor for Movies and crap while I edit on my primary, and when editing having the dock on the other screen is that much more helpful.
It breaks old versions of after effects, so you better have CS6 and the latest updates or CC.

Uhh it's going to end up being used most in a 4GB mac because that's where you're most constrained and would like to avoid swapping to disk so I don't know what you mean by it being basically non existent.

The Purge command has been way more effective then memory compression has. And fuck App Nap.
Want to buy an iMac for my first mac ever, also my first desktop computer that's not a family computer. im going to be getting a shitload of audio production equipment and i really want Logic. Do you think a base model iMac 21 inch is a good choice for me? is 21 inch a nice size?
The Purge command has been way more effective then memory compression has. And fuck App Nap.
I don't think you understand what the point of compressed memory is. It's a way to store more data in a given amount of RAM, and this demonstrably works because without it iOS 7 on the 5S would run into some severe memory limitations with 64bit apps. You're still going to run into a wall eventually, it's not something that magically fits everything into RAM and eliminates the need to close programs. It mitigates to an extent the limitation of how much physical RAM a device has, and it's way faster than swapping to disk all the time. I don't even understand why you're comparing its usefulness to that of purging apps from memory, those two things aren't related at all. Obviously just kicking stuff out of RAM frees up more space than compressing information stored in RAM.
[editline]6th December 2013[/editline]
Also what's wrong with app nap. I don't understand your dislike for these features that honestly only have negative implications when you invent them. Having the system ramp a program that is brought to the front back up to speed is something that can be done in an imperceptible interval of time, it's very useful on battery constrained systems like laptops. If someone has an iMac they can turn it off but I don't see how having it on would cause any issue.

point, i can have premire going in like 2 minutes, whilst avid takes 10 to get me going

Go to the store and find a 21" monitor.
I'd recommend the next model up because it has a dedicated GPU, and more ram.
Anyone else with the 2013 MBA have some issues where the computer seems like it goes to sleep with the screen off but it won't respond unless you force it to restart by holding the power button?
Yep, happens if I try to wake it within about 5 seconds of it going to sleep. The keyboard backlight comes on but the screen doesn't and it won't respond to anything. Only started happening since Mavericks
So I got this spec that appears whenever I use the camera (doesn't appear on the video camera) I've tried whiping the camera lens with a wet microfiber cloth but to no avail. Pic:

Could be some dust inside the lens...
So I just got a 2013 Macbook Pro, what case should I get for it? I don't meant a carrying case but like a protective skin or gel or whatever it is that all the cool Apple FP users use
Make one out of duct tape

The only cool decal I've ever seen was a real wood one, but that seems very hipster-ish and IIRC it was fucking impossible to remove without bathing your macbook with goo-gone.

Ish. Revolution is the first conference I went to, Octocat is obviously Github, and the hat/mustache thing is one I got at the last Handheld Conference ever.

Has anyone else here tried out the new steam app? I really like it, although it still uses the old keyboard which is very annoying since this is a new design update but I'm sure some century valve will get around to changing that too. The fonts are a lot nicer, and overall the design just seems less bland than the previous grey on grey design that had no contrast. Less dense in areas though, you don't see as much on the screen as before.
I wish they would do a Messages app style multi pane view for the iPad version, instead of having it be what is essentially a very large phone app. They should have the friends list on the left and chat on the right, similar to their web chat app.
Does anyone know why my macbook seems to struggle to get a simple 30fps in csgo even with (mostly) the lowest settings + fps config? It's the newest retina macbook that came out this year intel iris card and all that, I can run it fine at lower resolutions but at native it can barely keep a stable 30 fps.

Is this the 13" or 15"? Both with the IGP would struggle at native res I would think, but the 13" even more so because it doesn't have crystalwell.
