Ruby
Rails or no rails? Because a lot of RoR shops are really Mac-heavy.
i went through like 5 cables before doing this with my current one, it's lasted ages
I feel like the real trick for preserving it is not ripping it out by the cord. I see people do it and they wonder why they rip off. It ain't meant to be pulled out by the cord, grab the end and pull it out. In fact I remember when they used to have buttons on the side to remove it, and I bet there were a lot less destroyed 30pin cables back then.
I've been thinking of buying a mac book, but is it really worth the premium in the price?
Yes. They're fantastic. Especially for web development.
thread an old pen spring around the cable, stops it snapping, acts as a strain reducer
yeah the rubber on the end of my magsafe cable for my mac started to split. I just wrapped it up in electrical tape, hopefully that keeps it from bending too much. If anything it'll insulate the exposed wire.

I remember people used to do the same back then, but the cables ripped sooner. People don't understand buttons. Or effort.
I've still got one of the old cables that had the side catches. Outlived 3 of the new cables.
I still have a dozen of those back from when you could game Apple's support site. I used them for so long that it never even occurred to me to yank the little ones out of your devices.
I have a cheap cord with buttons for my fake iPod nano. It actually works in an iPhone, but maintains a connection about as well as you'd expect.

Does anyone know of a good windowsish mouse I could get that would loog good with the Apple Keyboard? Apple's Mice suck.
People with Mac, what's the best Anti virus for it out there? I know Mac's don't get viruses as quickly as Windows does, but for this occasion, I still need one that is considered good.
Does anyone know of a good windowsish mouse I could get that would loog good with the Apple Keyboard? Apple's Mice suck.
When I picture the Logitech g400 in my mind it feels like it would look okay alongside one of apples keyboards.

On Windows it now tells you about application updates, I imagine it does the same on Mac
I like Sophos, but that's just me.
Does anyone know of a good windowsish mouse I could get that would loog good with the Apple Keyboard? Apple's Mice suck.
Apple Magic Trackpad obviously.
Trackpad and a G400 or something
Interesting Video
That guy is really pretentious and annoying
I still think it's fascinating that everyone and their kid carries the entire wealth of human knowledge in their pocket, and they don't even realize it.
-fixed-
Can you change the CPU in a mini mac?
Can you change the CPU in a mini mac?
No. I don't even know if you can change it in a Mac Pro :S
You can change the CPU in the iMac and mac pro. That's it.
Today I inherited my moms "dead" 2008 Unibody MacBook that I managed to get working again. It had a dead battery and dead hard drive, both of which I replaced. I know it officially only supports 4GB of ram but I've heard of people getting it to recognize up to 6GB and 8GB of ram with 6GB being the most stable. Has one here tried this? Might as well ask here while doing some extra research before getting some ram.

It's likely to be DDR2 SODIMM RAM which can bit a fair bit for new 4GB sticks, so have a look at second hand options.
It's DDR3 and as I said it "officially" only supports 4GB but people have claimed otherwise. I was just curious if anyone else here has tried it.
It's DDR3 and as I said it "officially" only supports 4GB but people have claimed otherwise. I was just curious if anyone else here has tried it.
Ah right, well I have tried it on Sony Vaio PCs and it works just fine, usually means they haven't test it.

http://blog.macsales.com/9102-secret-firmware-lets-late-08-macbooks-use-8gb Guess I can use 8GB after all. Should be another nice upgrade since I just gave it a 120GB ssd. Only draw backs are the P7350 processor and 9400M igp. [editline]7th April 2013[/editline]
*videos*
I just reinstalled Snow Leopard. It was nice seeing it again since it was the last version of OSX that I used before going to Windows 7 on all my computers.
