For some reason a few of my SD cards don't read if they're locked, check the little switch on the side of the SD card.

I really like Ecoute 2: http://pixiapps.com/ecouteios/
I just installed a new battery in my Late 08 aluminum MacBook, but I'm seeing no battery life increase. My old battery was in a really bad state, and this new one is no better! What gives, am I missing something?
Try draining it and charging it?
Try draining it and charging it?
Already done that a couple of times, its pretty easy to do!
My battery life is nearly 2 hours, stock time for my model was rated at 5 hours of battery life.
My battery life really suffers in standby too, I turn it off for 8 hours fully charged and I come back to 85% of my battery remaining.
are you sure there isn't something software related that is draining your battery?
post the power section in your system report with the new battery in
Anyone know a good community that does mac theming, or where I can get proper introduction to it?

How good is Intel Iris Pro?

2/3rds the strength of the 750M if i remember correctly.
Does anybody know why the Macbook Pro up and down arrow keys are the only two non-uniform keys on the entire system?
They're the only ones with any sort of noticeable slope, and I can't figure out why.

Look at where they intersect. It's different from every other key on the keyboard.

Oh, that's what you meant. I guess it's there because the keys are side by side and not seperated like every other key and there's no space for the seperator. A lot of other laptop keyboards with this style of arrow keys on the keyboard does this. Some do the slope like you mentioned, some don't. I guess the slope is there to make it easier to press the button and not press the other one at the same time.

Makes sense... Feels like it could have been done more elegantly, though.

How can it be improved?
Doesn't seem like a Early 2014 model is coming, anyone who has anything to say against buying a 13" rMBP (8gb)? Looking at the roadmap for Intel next mbp might be 2015...
How can it be improved?
Space them out a bit more, raise the arrows, and use the same form key as the rest of the keyboard. Homogeneity is good design.
What's better, iris pro or HD 4000?

Iris Pro without a doubt.

Did the retina MacBook pros get more expensive because of the retina display and ssd?

Yes, although they lowered the price.

I'm seriously considering a macbook pro this september and by then it should be a lot cheaper because back to school sales. I want a quad-core so it looks like the retina 15 inch MBP is mandatory. I don't really like the SSD, it's just expensive and I know I want tons of storage (because uni/college programs for media/film/tv) so I could look for the non-retina 15inch quad core MBP for a lot less by then. Maybe refirb if Apple does that, plus student pricing.
15" retina + external HDD
new display is a billion times better. not even kidding

The old 15" hasn't been updated in years, it even still has the old thick chassis, not worth buying at all.

The model right before the retina one's were available?
You underestimate just how fast an SSD makes things. The 15" retina is amazing. If you want more than 200GB of storage, either upgrade the SSD or get an external drive.
I've been looking into MBP's for awhile now just because they make my dick dance.
Key notes here are I'm looking for a mid 2010 and on with either the i5 or i7, would prefer a retina model but my wallet says no.
My main question is what are the cons of buying a water damaged unit or a screen cracked unit and repairing them? I have all the time in the world so their annoying design does not hinder me.
The model right before the retina one's were available?
Years may have been a bit of an exaggeration. I believe its last update was mid 2012 when the retina first launched and it hasn't been changed since then so it's still running Sandy Bridge.

I understand how fast SSD makes things, booting Windows 7 from 2 minutes to 30 seconds or less is pretty awesome. My future wallet says the price isn't worth it and I'd probably rather get an older MBP or get an new Windows laptop instead for more or less the same specs and still have a decent amount of money left over.
