I've actually never found any MFi ones that are significantly cheaper than Apple's. I would think a melted one is grounds for a replacement though.
It's not the official one, it's a cheap amazon one my friend gave me. The one that came with my phone broke about a month ago, got it 20 January 2013 from Best Buy. Would they replace it? [editline]25th March 2014[/editline] or could I buy a micro usb to lightning connector? I have way too many micro usb cables. I use my old phone's charger to wall charge my PS4 controller so it's not a problem. [editline]25th March 2014[/editline] fuck me lightning connectors are cursed. I plugged it in a different USB port and fucking smoke came out of it. Even my broken, official Apple one did too. They're fine in a wall plug. I thought it was my USB port so I plugged in a micro usb cable and it's fine. Now I don't have a phone to call Apple with, I think they want me dead.
Anybody know a decent bluetooth controller for iOS? I'm wanting to finish Pokemon Emerald, but the virtual buttons are terribad.
I don't mean to be one of those people who define Apple by Steve Jobs, but their QC has gone down since his death. The guy wouldn't ship a white iPhone because of issues making the home button the exact color of white, I really don't think he would have let something like the mini retina ship with the display issues. I have never once seen one with a uniform white balance, there is ALWAYS one side that is warmer because the backlighting is insufficient. I would honestly try anyway if it's an iPhone with tinting because it's a much more expensive device and it's not common for it to have that issue.
IPhone 4 antenna
IPhone 4 antenna
That was such an embarrassing issue, can't believe I had to get a case just so my calls didn't cut out
So I plug my 3GS into my PC, and it just quickly alternates between being connected and charging to disconnecting and not charging. The fuck is up with it?
old? :v: Have you tried different usb ports or a different computer?
old? :v: Have you tried different usb ports or a different computer?
Tried other ports, doesn't help. My friend said it could be the cable so I'll just find one on Amazon to replace it.
IPhone 4 antenna

That was such an embarrassing issue, can't believe I had to get a case just so my calls didn't cut out
Yeah it's such a huge issue yet Apple continues to sell that phone today absolutely unchanged and nobody seems to have issues anymore. Definitely not a media created overblown issue or anything. If you read Anandtech you'll note that judging it based on the signal bars is why people thought it was such a big issue even though it wasn't near as bad as thought when you read the signal in dBm which is how you should be reading a cellular signal. Apple's signal bars had such bad gradation that the ~20dBm drop could be visualized as going from 4 bars to 1 bar which is hardly accurate. If someone actually had calls cut out because of it it's more to do with their carrier's network being poor to begin with (I can't remember the last time my phone went below -60dBm on UMTS). And even despite that, according to Allison Johnson, Jobs was brought to tears because of the issue regardless of whether it was overstated or not. I excluded primarily invented issues from my list of QC problems.
My friends 3GS did this No idea, we just charged it from the wall instead
I was hoping to update it to 6.1.6 so I can use Posixpwn.
So I plug my 3GS into my PC, and it just quickly alternates between being connected and charging to disconnecting and not charging. The fuck is up with it?
This happened to my iPhone 5. It was the cable for me.

Unless you're saying that a good dBm could've still resulted in it saying No service, though I did have the update from Apple as well that was supposed to change how the signal bars were displayed. Either way, it doesn't happen on my iPhone 5, but still happened on my iPhone 4 just before I sold it

The 4 had a drop of around 10dBm more than the Nexus One. You would have to be below -90dBm to possibly lose signal entirely, and with reception like that on UMTS the issue is more related to your carrier's network being poor. If a company building a network in a country the size of the UK can't keep everyone's signal strength above -90dBm then I'm very surprised. Like I said
Apple continues to sell that phone today absolutely unchanged and nobody seems to have issues anymore.
Four years later, still sold, I would think we'd still hear about this from people buying it.

They actually added two more plastic spacers in the 4S. When you held the 4 a certain way, it would shot the antenna. The 4S had three separate antenna regions, so you couldn't short it so easily.
You Canadians don't understand how shit this tiny island is sometimes :v:
Brits don't understand $80/mth for unlimited calling, texts, and a whopping 500MB of data. The 4 has two on the bottom across from one another and one to the right of the headphone plug on the top. By no means am I saying it's not still a "flaw", I'm saying the magnitude of it is infinitesimal compared to how it's portrayed. Obviously fixing it was a requirement to avoid another frenzy over it still being "broken".
My 4 had two spacers. My 4S has four. 2+2=4. How many times are you going to see fit to try and contest my knowledge in this thread? This is getting tiresome. I'm not trying to be an elitist but this is the third or fourth time and you could seriously just do some proper Googling. Or just look at your old phone. I love how you try to be cute with the math comment too, try harder. Do you know when that might have been put into effect? It must have been by the time they stopped giving out the cases right? I will admit the one I've tested was made well into 2011 so I'll take your word for it. Still, early reviews pegged it at a 20dBm drop and at least where I live that wouldn't cause me any harm because my reception is well above where I'd get issues with that. I just assumed with Canada being so shitty for cellular that it was common to have at least equal networks elsewhere.
You're entirely right... Like most times, I guess. Why do we always end up arguing about the inconsequentials?
You're entirely right... Like most times, I guess. Why do we always end up arguing about the inconsequentials?
Because...
2+2=4. Unless it equals three by bizarre mathematical laws we don't understand.
Someone thinks they're clever, but they're not. What they should have done instead is say "I'm pretty sure my iPhone 4 only had two gaps", but that was just too hard and instead they decided to treat the other member of their discussion as though they were a child who couldn't count. If I wanted to compete to be the bigger jackass I could have said something like "just go back to the Kill la Kill thread and discuss pleb tier anime" but I didn't because that's over the top rude and has nothing to do with what point I was trying to make; it would just serve to derail any sort of civil discussion. I just put up some pictures and mentioned how you keep doing this to me and it's really annoying because despite you claiming to believe it's so inconsequential it's you who decides to deviate from a proper discussion.

When I cracked my iPad Mini they replaced it because it was a single hairline crack that could be interpreted as a glass defect rather than shattered glass from dropping or smashing. That really looks like something that would get called a panel defect, especially if the glass is intact.
Awesome, I got my new cable. Charges and syncs perfectly and I managed to get P0sixspwn to work on 6.1.6 just fine :D

He lied to apple that it broke when it was in his back pocket and they gave him a new iphone for free
I've had this happen before. Did you empty the Trash?
yessir
yessir
Restarted? Sometimes that fixes it.
