One of my neighbors has their network named "Rusty Trombone".
When I get my Mini and that goes out of support I'm going to just SL that bitch, because ML and L are really Meh in my eyes.
sorry but mountain lion is the best os x
It's DDR3 and as I said it "officially" only supports 4GB but people have claimed otherwise.
I was just curious if anyone else here has tried it.
My MacBook said 4gb as well, it sits with 8gb in it.
still on mountain lion on my mac mini, have no need for a newer version
Anyone know where I can get some cheapish ram for a 5,1 MacBook?
I don't want to pay too much since it is going to be 5 years old in a few months but 2GB isn't enough.
You might get a 4GB DDR2 kit on ebay for £30
It uses DDR3 and I'm in the US :v:

I don't know what your budget is but that is one of the cheaper ones.
Didn't know Mushkin made "Mac" ram.
I spent about $70 on the battery and ssd I used was a spare. I think I can get the 8GB kit and keep it all under $150 to fix it up.
You don't need "mac" RAM, it's just normal DDR3 SODIMMs
They call it mac ram so they can slap higher prices on them and ignorant people fall for it.

I managed to get a 2x8GB DDR3 corsair value RAM kit for my sisters iMac for £50.
I know. It's like Western Digital's portable hard drives where they have seperate versions for Macs and Windows.
The only difference is that the Mac version has a higher build quality and is somehow cheaper, and yet the both work fine on either OS.
I think Linus did a video on them.
wanna know the most fucking annoying thing about macs
read only ntfs support
i have to get tuxera just to write to it
aaaaaah
Always hated this intro though, it's so eh

Anyone who knows some solution so I can directly upload screenshots? (CMD+SHIFT+4)
Only know something for Windows :\
cloudapp
cloudapp
insane response time, but no - not quite what I'm looking for, I want it to DIRECTLY UPLOAD, not save files first.
I normally use ClipUpload on Windows - Basicly that, just Mac.
I just use puush.

Is there any jailbreak app for iPhone that works like Nokia Suite. Nokia Suite lets you interact with certain core features of the phone from your pc.

From this screenshot it shows a part of Nokia Suite that lets you read and send text messages. You can also read contact information too
I honestly feel really dumb right now. I picked up a new iMac last night which came with the magic mouse and the wireless keyboard. The mouse connected fine but the keyboard refused to be discovered by the computer.
It had the green flashing light but just wouldn't be found. Turns out all I needed to do was change the batteries. I must have spent hours looking for a solution online. I had assumed that since the batteries in the mouse were fine, and the ones in the keyboard were actually working that it was something wrong with the keyboard itself.
I can't believe I wasted two hours looking for an explanation when the solution was so simple.

Heh, can happen to all of us. Congratulations on the Mac though. May I suggest you Google Chrome instead of Safari?

Thanks, though it's been a long long time since I've even touched a Mac. It's going to take a little bit to get used to it.
I didn't plan on sticking with Safari for too long, so I might do that. I just hadn't decided on what browser to use.

Chrome is fast and has a huge list of plugins and you can login and keep all the stuff on all your computers.
Firefox is dead to me because it keeps hanging up and doesn't have the smart functions that Chrome has to resolve this. (Every tab is a seperate process, so if one tab freezes because of some plugin - the rest are fine)
This is gonna be a painful wait but my parents have decided to partially pay for a 13 inch MBP that's gonna replace my current laptop.
Still gonna wait for WWDC first though. Mid June, right? I'd feel pretty fucking dumb if I got an MBP now and they announced Haswell Macs at WWDC.

Just stay clear of these sorts of 'heavy duty' batteries with the little protruding tip on the positive end, it causes a ton of trouble (in the form of regular connection/disconnection issues) with Magic Mice due to the small point of contact that the mouse has with the tip:

I don't think that I've seen batteries with those little tips. Thanks for pointing that out though, I would never think to be careful of what kind of batteries I'd use. I usually just stick with Duracell anyway.
Not sure if this is the right thread for hackintoshes, but here I go.
I am trying to dual boot 10.8 Mountain Lion on a computer with these specs:
Windows 8 Pro 64-Bit
Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz
6GB DDR3 Ram @ 534MHz
ASUS P6T SE
ATI Radeon HD 5770 (XFX)
500 GB Hitachi Deskstar HDD & 1 TB WD Caviar HDD
Optiarc DVD RW AD-7200A DVD Drive
(Also a cheap USB 3.0 card, doesn't need to work tbh)
I am having a problem with actually trying to get the installer to run on the computer. I have setup BIOS with all the necessary stuff to actually run OSX, but the computer basically says "Put in a bootable device and press any key to continue." I am using a 32GB USB Drive to install it, as I have no dual layered DVDs. I have both iAtkos and retail versions of OSX yet neither work. I don't have another Mac to use and making a virtual machine won't work.
If anyone has a way to install Mountain Lion from USB by only using Windows, that would be great.
If this isn't the right place to ask, sorry.
Does anyone here know why my iPhone thinks it's a good idea to randomly turn itself off when the battery goes below 20% and the temperature is below 5 celsius? It just randomly shuts off. With some effort (as in holding it in my hand while in my pocket to warm it up) it'll start up, and I can play music and stuff, but as soon as I open any other app it'll shut itself off within a minute of starting.
